Marlena is great! She was right on time when I came in. She was great at multitasking clients and I did not have to sit there and wait at all! She took note of my hair's condition and my normal routine, and told me what I was doing right and wrong in an educational (not condescending) way. She is so friendly and my hair came out healthy and BEAUTIFUL!

Oh wow I haven't written a review in a long time, well here is the update. I am STILL in love with Marlena. This woman has the most gifted hands of anyone I have ever met. She is a hair whisperer and knows what you need as soon as you walk into the shop. I have been a client since...2013 or 2014 and she might be the longest relationship, I've ever had with anyone lol. When I have to work on my own hair a feeling of regret washes over me....that I didn't book an appointment in advance
(seriously this woman fills up quickly). I always leave her shop feeling confident and pretty. She is so efficient and is a one woman show. She can have a shop full of people but the wait isn't long and she knows how to make sure there are people under the dryers, while there is another in her chair. She balances her work well and makes sure you have her attention while in the chair. She is a friend of mine, an amazing business woman and a great stylist. I want the universe to send all clients her way. If you are tired of your same old stylist; who will do what they want instead of what you asked, if you are sick of paying the big bucks; only to go home and redo your own hair and if you are sick of the Edward Scissor hand stylist who will cut without regard to your feelings try Marlena. She offers consults and wants you to be happy while educating you on your hair needs. After all a repeat client is a happy client.

Had a confirmed early morning appointment ahead of a business trip out of state. My appointment was canceled 30 minutes before. I was already near the shop.

***I would've been willing to wait later today for the same service. However, this wasn't an option. I will add that I have attempted to have this same service with 3 salons around the area, and every time there has been an issue with keeping the scheduled appointment. Based on reviews, I thought this would've been a success story. This has left me somewhat disappointed. However, I am fair. If this situation is ever addressed and resolved, I will advise. I am an advocate of Black business.

Being from out of state it's always scary when you think of trying a new place. This place is worth it. Marlena and her staff are amazing. She took my 3c-4a hair and transformed me into silky bouncy vibrant curls. She is amazing and it was a pleasure. She is one of Durham's treasures.
