Went there for a spur of the moment wax. Big mistake (I know better, lapse of judgement when I had an extra half hour).

The employee that worked with me was extremely rough, and really hurt me.Like actually hurt though, not just wax pain. I have gotten waxes at other locations and I have never had skin ripped off of me the way it was here-- and she seemed to enjoy it. Every time she pulled, it was like a hit or miss. "oooh" which meant she had to wax the same exact place to catch whatever she missed. Other people in my past waxes have been very methodical with the location of strips and the removal of them. She would literally pull it off like a very old large bandaid and sometimes stop half way--Then redo the same exact spot which was the worst thought bc by then my skin was entirely raw. I have a pretty decent pain threshold-I've done laser treatments and I have piercings, I've broken my jaw. haha, so for me to actually complain about pain, I would think something is wrong.
She also left some bruising on my skin and I actually have tender spots from how hard she was holding parts of my body down.
I also don't like the lack of set prices. I asked for the amount and they told me it "started" at 40 and depended on my hair ____. I'm not sure what she muttered but I'm assuming it was texture or length or something to that effect. I ended up paying 60, and the wax, as compared to others Ive had done (and paid less for) was INCOMPLETE. I felt like a baby bird or something bc there was little spikes of hair left on my leg which confused me. NOT smooth. I mean at all, so if that was goal (it was) it was sorely a fail. If this was my first wax I would say that maybe it was my hair or something, but having it done properly before basically allowed me to see that this person was actually clueless in waxing. both in methodology and in execution. I am actually surprised I am not bleeding.

Also they tell you the price after your already in the room and they've investigated your hair. (I don't know if this is normal-has also never happened) so now your violated and cornered. (haha)

The wax got hotter as the time passed. Im not sure why. there are two possibilities. 1. either, she left the machine on even after she asked me if it was too hot and I said "yes"--so she let the machine continue to heat the wax. OR, she kept having to redo the area over and over again so that when she put the wax on me the 3rd+ time, I was basically getting wax directly to the raw skin. There were some sections that she relaxed 5 times. (I counted)

The places I have been have 1. given me a price, 2. placed a strip properly 3.torn strip off 4. moved onto next location. that was NOT my experience here.

Clean up: I was trying to escape. I was like please, just don't even finish. lets stop here, (she smiled)  but she finished and then gave me a paper towel with some liquid on it. and told me to wipe off the wax. then Opened the door. to get me dry napkins. ...O p e n e d t h e d o o r. Has never happened before. I was always given a towel or cloth-- whatever in the room. I was usually blocked by a portable wall or something from the main door, but again, not here. This was not under any circumstance professional, TIMELY (took too long I couldn't tell you if I wanted to because I was just focusing on not crying) or pleasant in any way shape or form.

Sometimes I will be in the mall and I kind of spur of the moment decide to try something new. I have gotten waxed in the mall before, but I can promise you, I will never step foot in this "spa" again. Old management, new management, doesn't matter. This name is ruined for me forever.

I guess I should have known better than to expect much from getting my nails done at a mall. I went for a gel manicure. The woman cutting my nails spoke only a few words of English, and aggressively cut back my cuticles, causing me to bleed. She grabbed a used paper towel that was sitting near her McDonald's cup and tried to stop the bleeding. She then left my bloody paper towel on her desk as she started to paint my nails. It was kinda gross that she was drinking in the workspace (I can't imagine that's sanitary) and leaving my bloody paper towel lying around.

During the manicure, I could tell the polish consistency seemed really uneven and lumpy, but hoped my nails would even out with a few additional layers and the top-coat - unfortunately that wasn't the case. I'm not normally someone who is super OCD about my nails, but when there's chunks and you need to remove a huge area of the polish from a nail -- you can't just paint over that and expect the end result to look even.

I didn't want to cause a huge fuss, but looking at my nails after, I definitely could have done a better job at home...kind of ruins the point of going out to get a manicure. The edges are very uneven, there's polish covering parts of the skin on some nails, and now 2 days later I have several with chips (despite using gel polish with hopes of avoiding that)

Overall: Rushed manicure, unsanitary, and crappy results

Very upset that Kathy and her husband sold the business.  The new owners are rude and don't value loyal customer.  It there lost. The one thing this area has there are many nail spa. Think twice before going there.  The staff is good, but if management lies about your wait time, that not good.  They tell you your next and the slip another person in your place.  This has happen to be three times.

This place is located in the Trumbull Mall. It is now known as Fairfield Day Spa. Kelly is awesome - very skilled and knows what she is doing. All of the staff is great and super friendly. It is very clean and they are always sweeping and cleaning as they go.
