btr salon in Bethesda, MD

I've been going to Liz at Betru Salon for a few years. She is a pleasure to work with and is a great listener to what I prefer. She cuts my hair, regularly and blow drys it weekly. Going to the salon is a joy.....and I love getting my hair washed there.....it's almost like a mini head massage! There is a very relaxed, pleasant vibe at Betrue. I highly recommend it!

UPDATED REVIEW: One of the co-owners, Carlos, graciously reached out to me within hours of my review to help correct my hair concerns and scheduled me for an appointment the next day. He was thoughtful and understanding and understood my wants; including time to explain to me how to maintain it. After providing guidance to his kind assistant, Quinn, to take over from there, I was given exactly what I wanted (and all within an hour!). I am super happy with how it turned out and I'd go back for sure - but definitely with Carlos/Quinn directly next time! ORIGINAL REVIEW: I really wanted to love this salon because of all the glowing reviews, but unfortunately it was a miss for me. After showing a picture of my color choice to the hairstylist, I walked out much blonder than I had hoped and a super brassy shade. When I went back to fix it two days later, I was charged (semi understandable) and it was still wrong. I should have known it wasn't going to be a fit when I asked my stylist how she would find a perfect color for a client and her response was "tough question. I don't know". Sigh. Having said that, everyone is super nice; sadly, I just didn't get what I wanted out of the experience.

Jessica worked wonders to my hair. First time ever growing out my hair and wanted to get highlights to experiment. She did a great job of adding to what I had without any damage!

I've been going to this salon for 10+ years. In the past few years, the quality of the service has declined significantly. It started with a Brazilian Blowout that left the middle of my hair a rat's nest. The final straw was the haircut I received last week. I went in with hair midway down my back. I saw the same very senior stylist who has cut my hair for 10+ years and knows that I pretty much always get the same cut (1-2 inches below my shoulder with layers in front - emphasis on below the shoulder). He cut 4-5 inches off, bringing my hair well above my shoulders, despite my instructions. My hair has not been this short in more than 20 years. This happened after he decided texting midway through my appointment was appropriate. This is not the attention to instruction and detail I expect to receive for $$$. I will not be back.

I can't say enough great things about this salon! I've been coming here for nearly 25 years and Liz, the owner, has been my stylist for about 15. She always asks what I want and I have never been disappointed. If I'm not sure what I want and just let her do her thing, I always leave happy. She's very good with both color and cuts. It's very clean and the people are so nice. I wouldn't go anywhere else!
