Bella Bethesda in Bethesda, MD

Yay! I found Kara Sommer At Bella Bethesda! I lost track of Kara due to the pandemic. I tried other stylists but missed Kara. I always like how my hair looks after a cut or color with Kara. Like I can go straight out without stopping at home to "fix" it. Kara is also one of the nicest people you'll ever meet in addition to being a talented stylist! Bella Bethesda is a nice salon. Clean and the employees are friendly.

This was my first time at Bella Bethesda and I was very happy with how my hair turned out. After reading many reviews from other salons and asking friends for recommendations, I decided to try Alex at Bella Bethesda. Alex listened to exactly what I wanted for color and cut and it turned out so beautiful. I started getting compliments as soon as I left the salon and it hasn't stopped. Try Alex at Bella Bethesda and I promise you will be so pleased with the results.

I did not need a haircut, just trimming of split ends, as I was sick for a while and wanted my hair to look decent before getting back to work. I saw Jamie who I understand is one of the most experienced stylists. Attached is what one of my sides looks now. The other side is practically untouched, which, under circumstances, is probably good. Now, I understand that it's Bethesda and they charge for a haircut even more in some other places in the area. And there is no differentiation when it comes to "trimming" vs "full haircut" in this salon. It is their right. In other places they do differentiate, but, again, this is their right. However, charging $99+20.87(tip) to have your hair chopped like this just does not seem right. The manager called me and offered to come to be seen by one of their artistic directors. Honestly, I just did not feel comfortable to take that risk. As I mentioned, Jamie is one of their most experienced stylists. Instead I sent the manager this picture and offered to reimburse me $50. PS In response to the manager's comment (below). I believe it is obvious from the picture that my hear was butchered. Still, I only asked for a partial refund and I said that I would post an honest review - which I did. Unfortunately, after this experience, I don't feel hopeful enough that any other stylist will do a better job. Demetrios was amazing.

I have gone to Bella's and Kara has done my hair 3 times she is really talented in the way she cuts my hair and applies color. Where I used to go the color would always stain my forehead (even when she would apply Vaseline or whatever) and the answer I would get was.."that's just the color and can't avoid it", maybe it could just be the brand they use. Anyway, Kara is very careful and I never have stains around my face after she colors. She has a good eye and knows exactly what to do and she LISTENS. My hair was damaged and I didn't really have a good cut so It has been a journey but I have to say that my hair now has a great style for my face and is so healthy. I really feel that she is on this journey with me and I love that. As for the salon, it's very clean, I love the vibe, and the girls at the front desk are polite and helpful.

I came in from out of town for a wedding- made appointments ahead of time by email for my daughter and I for updos at Bella for the morning of the wedding. We get there at 10 only to be told our stylist had an emergency and could not come. With no solutions offered to our situation. They had a wrong number for me- not sure where they got it from since I made the appointments by email- and kept repeating there was nothing they could do for us except offer a discount for future services- knowing full well we do not live in town and how impossible it is to get any hair appointments on a Saturday morning with a wedding to get to at 3pm. I stood my ground repeating they had to find a solution for us- even simple blow outs. Only to be told again there was nothing they could do. I asked to see the manager and she was not there. Anyone in charge? No - only the receptionist who was obviously not equipped or willing to handle mishaps. How do I rate any service industry business? With how they come through when unexpected things come up. Bella failed in the biggest way. DO NOT GO THERE if you need to feel safe that your well made plans in a city far from home will be honored. SO DISAPPOINTED.
