Bineta Hair Braiding in Crofton, MD

Please note: I have waited quite a while and given a lot of thought prior to posting this review. I called this salon to make an appointment to get my soon to be 10 yo's hair braided for her birthday at the time. Upon request, I sent pictures to the owner and followed up with another phone call during which I asked her if I was to provide the hair. My daughter had asked for pink peekaboo braids for 2 rows at the back of her box braids. I was told there was no need to bring any hair as it would be provided by them and was already included in the price that I was quoted. On the day of, we arrived 15 minutes prior to her appointment time at the salon and there was 1 lady there who was eating when we arrived and barely acknowledged that we were there. When we walked in and were largely ignored, I didn't give it much thought and proceeded to seat ourselves in what appeared to be a waiting area. We waited 15 minutes and then I asked who would be braiding her hair to which I was told "the owner is on her way". I said okay and continued to wait. 50 minutes after our arrival (35 minutes after she was supposed to be seen), the owner showed up, with zero apologies for the extended wait time and informed me that she didn't have the pink hair but that she had dark blue or green. I mentioned that my daughter did not want blue and that had I known they didn't have the color we discussed 3 days prior I would've happily provided the hair. She shrugged her shoulders and told me if I didn't like the color blue or green, they could do it without any color addition and or I could go elsewhere. She seemed quite dismissive, annoyed and irritated by my asking why they were not prepared in-spite of me booking ahead and asking whether or not I should bring the hair with me several days before. The combination of lack of customer service, care, lack of apology and general unprofessional conduct etc led me to decide to leave. I didn't want them touching her hair with that much attitude and overall negativity at that point. I ended up taking her to a braider at Annapolis mall who was able to take us on the spot as a walk-in with no appointment and gave us the style exactly as we wanted it in a much more pleasant manner. I'm hoping this review serves as a guide for others and hopefully gives the owner of this salon the opportunity to reflect and plan to improve! Please note I'm a person who RARELY ever reviews anything.

Braiders are rude and very rough dealing with a child's head. The products they put on my daughter's hair left it greasy and flaky. This was our 2nd time here but we will not be returning.

Beware!! I walked into this shop to secure appointments for two of my children. The owner gave me the choice of Sunday or Monday. I was flexible so either day would've worked. We settled on Monday but I was never given a time. Since she was braiding someone else she asked me to text her and she'd respond back to me with the time to bring them. Later that day I texted her again asking if she could give me a time. She simply replies, ok. Monday comes and goes and no follow up whatsoever. I decided to call just to see what she had to say... "sorry-sorry bring them tomorrow at 9 am. I wake up at 6 am to wash, condition and detangle their hair. I called 15 min before hoping this would be a simple we're headed to the shop for our appts"! Not quite- the owner doesn't answer my call. So I texted her, hello just confirming our 9am appointment."! The response I got blew my mind! She responds, can you bring them this afternoon?" She didn't apologize or even attempt to an ounce of professionalism. SAVE YOUR TIME AND YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE!!! This place will never get a penny of my money.
