SO DISAPPOINTED! Mary, my stylist at the State College Salon, has dropped me as her client after a year and a half of service. I called the store manager and she related to me Mary's wishes. Mary will see me as a walk-in only. I have regularly tipped her close to 50% each visit. I will send her money for today's cancelled appointment. It's interesting that I've come in for my appointment and she was not there. I had not been told she was off sick. I didn't "fire" HER! Sad! She is very talented and I've been overjoyed with every visit. I will miss her! I suggest when stylist are hired, they should be aware of the downsides of their vocation. I will send her my tip+ I would have given her so she won't have a complete loss on my cancelled appointment. ULTA has lost a good client in me and the people I know. Mary has been a great stylist and I will miss her! Debbie

I'd been looking for a new stylist, and decided to schedule an appointment at Ulta for a simple haircut. I booked the appointment about two weeks ago for an 11:00 a.m. slot this morning. I arrived a few minutes early and the stylist I was to see told me that it would be about 20 minutes until she finished with a client and could take me. I left and wandered through some other nearby stores for awhile and then returned to Ulta about 20 minutes later. The stylist was still working on a client, so I sat down in the waiting area where I waited...and waited...and waited. Finally, at 11:40, I asked the very nice receptionist if it would be easier if I just rescheduled. She checked with the stylist, and then returned to say that it would be better if I rescheduled since the stylist had another appointment scheduled at noon. I agreed, expecting to be scheduled later this afternoon or evening. After going over the schedule, the staff told me they could "fit me in" the next afternoon. Since I'd made an appointment well in advance and since they were unable to honor my appointment time, I felt some accommodation should have been made other than "fitting me in". So, I declined and was waved off with a breezy, "Sorry about that." The stylists might be great, but I'll never know since I will not go back. Good customer service is sorely lacking.

I dread going on here because I think the employees are rude. Today was no exception. I hate needing their assistance but they were advertising their tarte concealer that has approximately 15+ different shades. Not wanting to waste $24 on another wasted make up product, I wanted to see the 'testers'. However there were maybe half the testers with the most commonly used ones missing. So I grabbed the two I thought would be my shade and opened the top box to double check the color since the box doesn't even show a color. No I did NOT open the product bottle. So since the employees were standing around as usual just chatting, I said "excuse me". And before I could finish my only question all she could do is immediately lecture me like a school girl how to never take the product out of the box. To which I quickly relied I didn't want to but they didn't have nearly half the testers out and I'm not going to waste my money on a product that isn't even my color! She had to continue about this completely ignoring my question until she said her piece and then reiterated it several times. Newsflash, I am a paying customer, the reason you have a job- customers! Maybe next time work on your costumer service, you know, what your there for! I am done going in this store. I am a platinum ulta member and I deserve better customer service. Not that it is a hassle to have me as a customer. How do you lose shareholder stock? One customer at a time. Note, I would add her name but she had no name tag on, which all the many other employees did. She was a tall, larger woman with short hair, dyed.

I love to shop at Ulta and spend enough money there per year to achieve platinum member status with their loyalty program. However the perks of my platinum membership are rarely fulfilled when this store is consistently "out of stock" of almost all samples offered via email. I am very frustrated that the last 4 times I've been in the store they haven't had the sample products, even within a day of receiving the email offer. They claim that there are no substitutions and make no effort to find a solution for customers like myself who are frustrated with this "platinum perk". As a customer, either permitting substitutions or getting in a higher quantity of stock of the free samples seems like a necessary next step for this store and others that seem to consistently have the same issues (Altoona).

I visited the State College, PA Ulta Salon for the first time in order to get my hair done for engagement photos. I had a coupon for 30% off first time customers for blowouts. When I got to my appointment, the girl who looked up my appointment was the one who took me back to get my hair done (there were only two girls there). After it was finished I went to check out at the front desk with my coupon and they looked at me like I was crazy. The girl had to walk back to the salon to talk with the stylist and when she returned told me that apparently the girl who did my hair was a "Senior Designer" and my coupon didn't apply. I wasn't given a choice of stylist nor did I know she was one and I wouldn't have chosen a "Senior designer" if I knew my coupon didn't apply. So I ended up paying $47 + tip for a "Go Out Blowout" that didn't even look like anything was done to my hair. It didn't even last until my pictures which were an hour later. I am very dissappointed in not only the service but the deceiving coupon offer. I really thought of using ULTA for all of my upcoming bridal events because it's so convenient but I will definately not be returning after this experience.
