Antoinette and Pattie are an amazing duo! I had a hair emergency where a previous hair style was causing significant damage to my hair as I was attempting to take it out. I called the salon almost in tears because I thought I was going to lose most of my hair. Pattie calmed me down and told me to come in and let them look at it before panicking. In between scheduled clients they took turns taking care of each other's clients (so they weren't left waiting because my emergency didn't mean they should be left unattended) while figuring out how to get faux locs out of my hair that had been put in improperly. Not only did they get them out, they also did it without causing hair loss. These ladies are not only knowledgeable but kind, gentle and patient. The salon is clean, well lit and welcoming and following all mandated covid protocols. Thank you A Nu Twist!!!
Okay so I went here this past two months and God has blessed Shalana's hands. I went for loc maintenance and style and she rocked it! I'll be going back to her for my hair again and again. Prices are reasonable and I have thick locs that she manages very well. I've had experience in the past with stylist not being able to put my hair in the styles I want due to the thickness of my locs.
All the stylists here are so personable and talented! I only get my natural hair trimmed here because they know what they're doing and it's actually affordable. Antoinette has built such amazing repertoire with the Gainesville natural hair community, which is evident from her long list of faithful clientele. Book early because you definitely want to be seen by her and her stylists. So grateful that this supportive space exists for people with natural hair and their hair journey! I was a walk-in this afternoon to get my ends cut and even though Antoinette (the owner) was booked she took the time to squeeze me in. Antoinette was such a pleasant lady and knew exactly what to do with my hair.
I went for a relaxer, asked for a specific product and they used something else. It did not work! So I called back and they could not inform me which product they used. Totally scared! Go somewhere else!
