Yvonne's Beauty Care Barber & Salon in Chatsworth, CA

Maybe ok for men but women should think twice. First clue- the place was completely empty on a Saturday and the person before and after me were men. Never went to a salon where there were almost a dozen stations but only one stylist. I was not offered a shampoo which is customary in EVERY salon I have ever been to- no matter low and up scale. I advised the stylist what I wanted by showing a photo and making distinctions from the photo and she seemed to understand but in the end it looked NOTHING like I wanted. It was probably one of the worst cuts I have ever gotten and that's including the chain places like Supercuts! She attempted to put the blame on me which was disheartening. The other thing I noticed is the entire time she was cutting my hair from start to finish- she had me facing away from the mirror (that also never happened at any other salon I have ever been to-not for the cutting part- blow dry I understand!). I had hair all over my face, my lips, all over my forehead- my arms and clothes because the wrap they put on you to protect from all that was cheap and small and kept slipping around. She tried blowing it all off to no avail. When it thankfully all ended I went to go pay and was floored when I was told the price (for a simple cut and blow dry -which by the way I didn't ask for)! $95!!!! This isn't Woodland Hills or Calabasas - this is Chatsworth! The place is in a mediocre location in a strip mall next to a laundromat. I paid with great reluctance- not for the horrible job she did but for the time- and thought the best way I can pay it forward is to warn others to stay away. Read the reviews and who is writing them because it matters. Even men have written that she can't blend well and doesn't know how to fade. I would not recommend and will never return! Update: tried to be civil in my original review and not bash too badly but after that "response"... yah- here it is: you can read for yourself the defensive tone in the rambling response given by the owner's petulant/immature son who sits at the reception desk playing with his phone all day. Learn a few things about customer service kid! This response isn't it. Not even close!!! I showed a clear picture that even a person with poor eyesight with a minimal talent to cut hair could duplicate! I mean even a new grad at Supercuts!! I didn't change my mind about the cut AT ALL! That is total bullsh*t! Clearly either there was a language barrier or she doesn't listen very well! I showed the picture and clearly made distinctions about the layers in the photo!! The stylist's ability to listen and understand were nonexistent! Further, all the stylist did after messing up my hair in the last 20 minutes - which she allegedly spent on "fixing" my hair - that cut into the other customer's time was progressively and epically wreck it even more! It wasn't until I got home that I realized just how awful it looked and how many mistakes she made! There were uneven ends- some parts longer than others- jagged as though she didn't even look to see and measure the symmetry ! Zero attention to detail! Total Garbage! Unadulterated TRASH!!! I would've rather looked at the mirror than the alleged "view!" The view of people loading baskets of laundry in their vehicles' trunks? Had I been facing the mirror I could have seen how badly the so called stylist was destroying my hair and stopped the DISASTER!!! Luckily my hair grows fast. Take ownership of ur eff up and humbly apologize instead of trying to blame ME!!! That's easy right? Shift the blame on the customer so you can redeem yourself on Yelp? Nope! People pay attention to how you respond! I've already had nearly 550 views on this review! Good luck with that! How you respond to customers is demonstrative of how you conduct your business! To the son: if you're going to speak for your mom- then at least learn some business etiquette instead of being on your phone all day! Take a class! I shouldn't have had to pay a dime for literally the WORST HAIRCUT EVER!!! I mean EVER!!!! Good that u know who this is lol because it's evident that u don't have very many customers to be able to have such a clear memory of the circumstances and who I am! May NO ONE cross your path! I mean no one!!!! I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy!!! Please people- stay clear of this place. To the "stylist": do everyone a favor: Please stop cutting hair! You are awful at it!

UPDATE: I've been coming to Yvonne's for years and i just got another haircut today. It's gotten to the point where i trust her enough to say, "Just make it look good, i trust you." She cuts a great fade any guy would appreciate. Even though she's able to give you any hairstyle you show her a picture of, she also knows what's a good haircut that fits your face. I've ALWAYS been satisfied with her haircuts and ALWAYS had peace of mind leaving her salon knowing she did GREAT. Yvonne is super talented. Definitely a fan of her work!!!

Please post that you'll be on vacation next time. Yelp, Google, and Apple all say open.

I had spent the day with my grandmother and my grandmother has thin hair to her shoulders, but she's used to having it very short and she had told me her head felt very heavy. I asked her if she would like to get a haircut as we were having lunch, I came across this salon, and, I'm gonna be honest maybe I should've asked how much it would be but at the same time I never thought she would charge such an outrageous price so number one when you go get a hair done at a salon they always ask you if you want to get your hair blowdried a lot of them it's complementary But most will ask this lady cut my grandmothers hair blow dry my grandmother's hair and when I was ready to pay they charge me $80 now I love my grandmother I could pay that all day it doesn't matter but I'm sorry I will never come back here again Once again, my grandmother has short, thin, straight hair it didn't make sense to me, but she would charge such an outrageous price

Yvonne was very nice and welcoming when I came in. She took a look at my pictures for insipration and got it done exactly as I wanted it. 10/10 would recommend and excited to come back next time I need a haircut !
