Total Hair Salon in Raleigh, NC

I disclosed up front that I'd used boxed dye in the past so the hair stylist knew this before starting. Aside from the conversations he had the whole 4 hour appointment, that were continually referring to his privates without saying the actual word, I was uncomfortable the whole time. But aside from his comments after putting all the foil on he put me under the heater and then walked away and took his 3rd or 4th phone call since I'd gotten there. I knew personal stuff was happening with his family so I wouldn't have cared except for the fact my head started burning to the point my body was shaking. I tried to wave him down but he didn't see me nor was he paying attention. I tried to get another stylists attention but sadly she was busy with another client and didn't see me (which I don't blame her for obviously I'm his client his responsibility). I scooted out of the heater trying to get the foil off my burning scalp when he finally noticed and came over. Only to touch the foil and jump back saying "it got me!". Mind you he didn't get it off my head still so my scalp is still being burned while he's airing off his hand. After admitting it was too hot he pulled off my foils and even admitted I should have been under the heater an additional 5 minutes. I asked him and another stylist if my head had been burned or hair fried because the pain was not going away even after my hair was washed. Both told me no no your head is fine, it's not even red then proceeded to continue yanking on my hair or scrubbing it intensely during my wash. This was the most painful salon experience I've ever had. Needless to say when I got home I had my husband check my head as it still was throbbing only to find my scalp had indeed been badly burned and I had oils leaking out for days trying to heal it with a massive scab that lasted well over a month. Proceed here with caution.

Jen A has been my stylist for 10 + years.  She hears I want and is just amazing.   Raleigh is expensive.  But I feel comfortable with what I pay.  I'd never go anywhere else and if she moved I'd follow her !!!!

I came into Total Hair as a walk in back April 2019 after a terrible cut at an Aveda salon....Jenna saved my hair!!! She is magic! Such an talented and skilled stylist. I've brought my young daughters to her as well and she did a fantastic job. We all have thin curly hair, and I've struggled my entire life to find a stylist that can give me a flattering cut for both curly and straight styling options. I just came back from my second haircut with Jenna and I have never had a better hair cut in my life! I only get my haircut about every six months, but I plan to come to Jenna from here on out forever! She is a magician with curly hair!! Also, gorgeous new space for Total Hair!

Got a color & cut at Total Hair Friday from Jenna.  It usually takes me a couple days to really judge the haircut.  It's great.  Color too, but it's the cut I have so many problems with.  Many places try to cut my hair in 10-15 min, & it ends up looking choppy.  She spent a lot of time using scissors almost exclusively, and it is 'blended' perfectly (if that's the right term).  And kept cutting it shorter & shorter at my request as well.  I would definitely come back, but don't live in the area.  If they treat all customers the way they treated me, & how I saw the fellow next to me treating his regulars, I would recommend this salon, and the stylist that I got.  I'm sure they would get you in & out quickly if that's what you want, I'm just glad I found a place far away from my home that would take the time to do a good job.

I walked in to the salon on Saturday as was greeted immediately. Though I had no appointment, I was treated as a regular! Jenna was great and listen closely to what I wanted- and delivered! I will definitely return!
