The SALON by InStyle Inside JCPenney in Vancouver, WA

First off, I wanted to say that the staff were great and very friendly. They let me know where my friend could find certain items and checked to see if there was more stock in the back for certain products- i know thats bare minimum but they were genuinely nice and didn't seem bothered by me and my friends questions. Only off thing regarding staff was that one staff member told us a certain product was vegan but when we looked it up we found out it was not- but I get it, formulas change often. Staff total would be 4.5 stars. The store itself on the other hand was pretty bare bones. It looked like there were a lot of products that didn't have any stock, and many of the makeup samples looked like they had been out for over a year because they were either hard as a rock, crusty, dried up, smelled like they were expired, or they were chunky when they weren't supposed to be. I came looking for two separate products and they didn't happen to carry either brand at this location because it is definitely a smaller sephora storefront. My friend and I still chose to walk around to look at different brands and products, but the makeup utensil stations around the store that have alcohol and makeup remover in them confused me- some of the squeeze bottles said "water" when there was alcohol or soap in them. Overall I give this sephora a 3 star review because the staff were nice, but obviously the lack of inventory is a struggle here. This is the closest Sephora to me, but unfortunately it seems i will have to order online.

Love the customer service! They were kind to me even though I didn't wear a mask and had a great selection to choose from.

Unfortunately I'm contemplating any more purchases here. Purchases have to be done online or at a major Sephora. The jcpenny in store does not except any returns. Also a 3 month limit for returns which is new. I'll stick with Nordstrom as much as I can.

Mikaela is so worth the trip to JCPennys! She was so personable and knowledgeable. She didn't try to sell me products I didn't need. She listened to me and tailored the products to my needs. She also waxed my brows into the shape they were meant to be. She walked me through each step and gave me a plan to take home. She is amazing and I highly recommend her!

I stopped in on a busy Friday night to pick up a few things. I saw that they also had a Benefit brow bar and decided to try it out. Michaela is an outstanding brow artist! I cannot say enough about how good she is. She explained every step of the process, the products she was using, and she finished by applying concealer around my eyes to cover the redness. I know how other places, salons and nail places, wax their customers and it's nothing like the personalized service and care that Michaela provided. If you need your brows tended to, go see Michaela. You will not regret it!!!!
