The Nail Chateau & Spa in Tehachapi, CA

This place is fantastic so professional and respectable my nail tech is Sarah she's amazing always does a wonderful job.. I highly recommend it...

I was a client of Sarah's, the owner, for about five years. I will say that she is very good at Nails. The environment of the salon is stuffy, snobbish and judgemental but I dealt with it because like I said she is good at her job. Last week I let her know I was no longer going to be a client and I received this from her, read to the bottom. I'm posting a photo and people can decide for themselves.

I'm sorry to say that my experience was bad. I originally planned a spa day for manis, pedis, facials, and massages, but the esthetician was not going to be in. Then I found out that the masseuse is a man, and we're a little shy, so we cancelled that part. So, I had reservations for 3 of us for mani/pedis. It was a special event. I had corresponded with the owner via text for 3 weeks (many times) prior to our appointment and even during that week. When we came in, she didn't acknowledge us at all. We just sat there. She just forgot about us. It was very sad and extremely awkward, as I planned this as a special birthday treat for my sisters. In the owner's defense, she did text me afterward, offering a gift certificate for our trouble. While I did appreciate that, the experience was so awkward, so disappointing, that none of us wanted to return.

Appt. 5-29-20. Jinnifer started small talk. I chose three nail colors green, red, and black to symbolize the Pan-African Flag. She asked how I was doing with the pandemic. I replied by stating my family and I were fine, and how I was enjoying homeschooling my children. She quickly change the subject to what is currently going on the news with George Floyd's death. Stating she hadn't seen the video but the looting and fires are out of control. "I protested peaceful along with others for the reopening of salons why can't they do the same." There was only one woman during the protest shouting derogatory remarks at people of color that had opposing views. She  then asked me what I thought, I attempted to explain that as an African American woman I fear for my children's lives everyday, she quickly stated she feared for her kid's lives as well. I attempted to change the subject she kept on going back to it. I wanted to get up and leave but the nails were already on, she just needs to paint them. I gave an example of a current situation at work were I was treated differently by my colleague and other staff and how her actions were and are generally accepted because majority of the staff are Caucasian. Jinnifer dismissed the coworker's behavior by saying "oh she's just a snowflake". We then began talking about dating. I stated dating wasn't my current focus, just my kids and that I had created an account on eharmony but it wasn't anything serious. She then asked me if I felt that dating was harder because I was colored and what I thought about interracial dating. I responded by saying as an African American woman I don't believe it's harder, it's just not a priority for me, my children's safety is. And to answer her second question I replied love is love. She asked me if I felt comfortable with our conversation, not sure what she expected me to say when she was literally almost done. I was extremely uncomfortable, the conversation was biased without any supportive information backing up her ignorant comments, yet I replied "yes, it's ok." I just wanted to leave. Jinnifer applies the paint and I explain the symbols that I wanted on my middle finger and thumb. I wanted the outline of Africa in gold and a fist . She told me she could try to draw Africa but didn't think the fist would look right and would take too long. She drew Africa on both middle fingers. The was over, I handed her the money $45. Waited while she locked up the shop, set the alarm and we left. A week later I received a text message saying I was $5 dollars short. Jinnifer stated it was $50 total with the design. I had gotten designs before and it was $45. If she would have notified me then I would of had no problem pulling it out of my wallet; however I do not live in Tehachapi so it makes no sense for me to travel all the way down there for five dollars. I believe everyone should be held accountable for their actions, this experience was unbelievable and unacceptable. I will no longer be a customer at this nail salon where I feel I am not welcome.

I Love my nails!!! I'm pretty picky with them as I have had them on for 30 yrs. I moved here 1 yr ago and wasn't sure I would find a girl like mine. Jinnifer exceeded my expectations and is fun to talk too! You will not be disappointed and she takes her time and does gorgeous work Sooooo happy I found her in this little town! She is Hollywood worthy and more.
