The Hair Spa Salon in Glenarden, MD

I recently had an appointment at this specific location. My stylist never showed up and I wasn't informed until an hour later.I waited a whole hour for my stylist and no one didn't pay me no attention until I asked for my stylist.I was also charged two different prices than what I was told over the phone. I also relaxed my own hair because the stylist said it would lower the price. Other than that, My stylist Jojo did a good job when she styled my finger waves. But I wasn't pleased at all, especially for my first time!

It saddens me to write this review. I scheduled an appointment online for 6:30pm.. I confirmed my appointment 24hrs before and called to confirm for reassurance. The day of my appointment I was running a couple of minutes behind due to traffic. I travel 40 miles, drove 3hrs (that rush hour was awful) just for my appointment. I arrived and my stylist claimed she didn't know about my appointment and would be unable to take me. I was devastated. She offered me to come back the next day at 10am but I have a job, I scheduled my appointment to fit in my life. I told her I had a flight to catch and it's my birthday... completely devastated. What's the purpose of scheduling an appointment, confirming appointments, calling... I wasted time and gas. I do not recommend visiting the Hair Spa Salon if you are in a time crunch. Prior to this appointment, I had one more in February and it was phenomenal which made me another appointment but after this event. This showcase of unprofessionalism and lack of empathy.. I refused to return. I really big believer and supporter of "Shopping Black" and working with black owned business but this is ridiculous.

I should have read the reviews first! FIVE HOURS for a relaxer touch-up, color, and cut? They purposely overbook, out of pure greed First, I sat an hour before anyone touched me. Next , they sat me in a chair for another 45 minutes because there were no salon capes available! The shampoo assistant offered me a damaged one, that would have had product all over my shirt, and I had to tell her no. I provided the stylist with pictures of the look I wanted, to include explicit instructions on not giving me a part. The relaxer portion was okay but, the color is another story. He barely curled my hair, half styled it and politely asked for $255! By the time I got home it was completely straight! After he pretended to be detail oriented by spraying, fixing, and pulling I went home to RESTYLE it myself. My scalp was not oiled, I wasn't asked which side I wear my hair on,,etc. When I got home and began to comb my hair, I see that the dye had STAINED MY ENTIRE HAIR LINE! And he didn't even say a word to me about it! WTF, did you think I wouldn't notice? BLACK Dye was dripped on my face and all around my hairline, because no base was used to protect my skin!!! WHO TF DOES THAT and the isn't even decent enough to let you know or better yet, what kind of salon doesn't keep dye remover on hand? I knew I should have left when they left me waiting for a cape of all things; don't waste a dime here, it's definitely not worth it! This is a prime example of why I dislike going to most hair salons; I have no problem paying for good service but when I don't receive it, I have a REAL PROBLEM WITH THAT!

I was told to come at 7:30 am so when I got there, I was greeted by Ashely who was wonderful, friendly, and very courteous. She took her time to wash my hair and was very professional. I would giver her 10 stars if it was allowed. The hair stylist... First of all, even if I came at 7:30, Travolta didn't take me until 9:00 am and then he was not engaging or he was not even responding to some of my questions. His work on my hair was not quality work for the price he charged (he charged me $120.00 for my very short hair). This price is only for wash, trim, wrap and flat iron that is it. I don't mind paying whatever price, but the work has to match the price. I didn't see my hair very well until I paid & went out to my car. The work was not professional at all; I had to go else where later on to get it fixed. My sister has a little longer hair and his work on my sister was great on the other hand I would give him five star for her work. May be he doesn't have experience with short hair. I will never go back!

Beware!! They overprice you and are very rude to certain customers. A silk press, trim, and deep condition was $100 for a 14 year old and didn't provide a receipt until asked several times which is against Maryland Law. They suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
