Synergy Salon and Spa in Boise, ID

Allison Clauson is a Elite/Senior level stylist at this Aveda salon and discovering this talented young professional and this welcoming, low key, well managed salon are among the self care highlights not just of 2023 for me but of my ten years living in Eagle.  I'll echo what Pam T said in her review for Allison, as Pam's review comments were among the things that drew me in:   "...Allison! She is amazing, and will now be my go to girl! She listened to my concerns, and established a plan for my hair in a way that made me feel comfortable and confident in her skills!...just after one visit, it looks and feels amazing! Exclamation points and all, Pam T got it right for how I felt after my first visit with Allison when she listened to my woes that led to a couple of the worst haircuts of my life and I was looking pretty bedraggled in form and feeling the same in spirit when I went in with "HELP!" plea.  Allison recommended a path forward for cuts to fix the mess.  I looked immensely better after just one cut and four cuts in for mission accomplished.  My hair now looks the best it has in the decade before I moved to this area and struggled through one marginal experience after another.

Allison has provided some of the best cuts of my life (and I am one of those people who in younger days commuted an hour or more for great stylists in salons in Seattle, NYC and SF) and has recommended products to use as I am trying to get my hair to grow out to gray.  (I decided two years ago to do this and I'm still not there yet.)  Were I still in younger years when I was willing to spend the time in a chair to  keep my hair colored, having seen Allison's beautiful work on other clients who come and go at Synergy, she would definitely be my choice.

ALL AGES WELCOME: I also appreciate that Allison treats me as if I matter.  For we women who have our Social Security Eligibility birthday in our rearview it is my experience that it is often so that we get treated as second class citizens in salons.  Allison makes women of all ages feel important for looking our best.  I have seen her beautiful cut and color work "walking" on young women coming and going and she pays just as much attention to me.  

BROWS:  This is a full service salon and I also appreciate Nicole who has done a great job of brow care for me.  (Nicole is also a stylist and my husband has been very happy with the haircuts she has done for him.)  

APPOINTMENT PROCESS:  I also appreciate that appointments are made with the salon, that is one isn't calling or texting the stylist directly, and the calendars are well managed.  It may take you a couple months to have opening for your first appointment, but then they are easy to schedule at planned intervals.  (I was quoted about 6 weeks until Allison had her first opening for my first appointment, but they offered to put me on cancellation notice and about a month later I got a call offering an opening the next day.)  Appointment reminders are sent by text but if you need to call the salon there is a main number to use to do that.

SPARKLING CLEAN & WELL MANAGED:  The owner is on premises much of the time, and she also does some of the scheduling, so attention is paid her to have things as they should be.  Professionally run.

AVEDA PRODUCTS:  Sold in the salon.  

PARKING:  A private lot for convenience.

ACCESSIBILITY:   There is accessible, aka ADA, parking in the lot.  Clear floor space inside that usable by a person in a wheelchair (as one woman who entered after me for my last cut was after having an accident) to get to and from stylist's chair and shampoo area.  I have had multiple sclerosis since my college years so I pay attention to accessibility and I very much appreciate that Allison is comfortable working with a person with disability and she has recommended styling tools for me to make it easier for me to style my hair on my own.

LOCATION & TRAFFIC HEADS UP:  On State Street conveniently located for me just minutes east of Eagle, I think this location is technically Garden City although the address says Boise and if so it is far west side of Boise.  Worth the commute from any Boise location.  Beware of traffic making a left turn out of the lot onto State Street if you're crossing traffic headed west.  It is fast moving at this uncontrolled entry onto State.

Tried it out again after a bad experience. Still not super easy to schedule but friendly staff. My hair looks good and they haven't gone up a ton like most salons. I completely understand prices changing but it's almost 70%. to 80% mark up at other Aveda salons.

I love coming into get my haircut here Sandy does a great job and is so easy to talk to.

After moving here from California, I tried four different hair cutters to get a men's cut that I was happy with.  Finally, I've found someone who understands how to cut a man's hair in the Boise area. Holly is an exceptional precision cutter who listens to the customer and has in my judgment the skill and experience to deliver. I have no reservation in recommending her and was pleased with my cut. A very satisfied customer.
