Spinosi's Hair Studio in Hoover, AL

I always leave happy!  I have never gotten so many compliments on my hair as I have since using Tricia.  I chose her because of the great reviews on Yelp and I wasn't disappointed!  

At my first appointment she advised me the best way to grow out my grey.  She is a master with color .  

You can't go wrong here!

This is the third time I have visited Tricia since moving to the Birmingham area this summer and I wouldn't trade her!

Since my first visit, Tricia has always taken the time to ask a lot of questions to ensure I get the look I want. We did partial foils and highlights along with a haircut the first time I went to her.  Since then I have done bayalage as I grow my hair. I leave feeling beautiful each time!

Not only does Tricia give you her utmost attention, she's super friendly and a lot of fun!

FYI her salon - Spinosi Studios, is part of Sola Salons, which I describe as a "mall of mini-hair salons". Each salon is individually owned by the stylists where they own and operate the entire business. It is definitely unique and different and something I had never experienced, however, I like the personal and individualized attention I get from Tricia while I'm there.

To summarize, I would give Tricia 10 stars if I could! Hands down, a top notch hair stylist and I'm so thankful I found her!

Oh my goodness. Just no. Never again. For clarification, this is a one-person salon inside a group of booth/room-rent salons.

Service requested: Change from purple hair to red hair (not my natural color either) and a trim.
Price: $355

My first impression was that this woman spends WAY too much time taking pictures while I am there. Honestly, she has more photos of me on her phone than I have on mine. The before, after, and endless shots during the process. I can completely understand wanting a couple of before and after shots. But this...no. I don't get it. No one can be that interested in pictures of my hair. This seriously added a solid 45 minutes to what we both knew was going to be a very long process for both of us. Don't make a long day 45 minutes longer so you can take pictures.

And it wasn't just my time that she was disrespectful of. She displayed similar behavior with a  coworker, and terribly so with her poor sales rep. There was something she needed to discuss with the lady. In the way of small talk, Tricia asked her if she was busy that day. The lady said, "Oh yes! I'm trying to see my clients from next week and this week because I (have a thing next week)." Tricia proceeded to not talk to the lady for 30 minutes. I felt awful for her!

Second was technical skills. The color came out reasonably well; I was satisfied with that. The cut, on the other hand... I'm going to have to get it re-cut as soon as it is feasible. She seemed to be struggling a lot with my hair, saying that it was so thick that what she was doing was not making a difference. I know I have thick hair and that it presents its own challenges for stylists, but I have never had a stylist be unable to cut it properly. My bangs look terrible. Not at all what I wanted or showed her pictures of.

Anytime you go to a completely different color, especially with thick hair, it's a long process. So between the standard several hours and the endless pictures, I was really ready to just get out of there. I wasn't super happy with the cut, but felt like it was okay enough. I didn't want to be there any longer. I wasn't paying enough attention. Over the next few days I realized how bad it was. Not that it would've mattered; I don't think she could've done it correctly. I would've been better off just getting the color done, and then going to Supercuts or something for the trim.

I really hate writing bad reviews, and usually just let it slide even though I feel bad that someone else may go there and experience the same thing. I was going to do just that, until I realized how much I paid for the service. It was $355. Granted, I think that did include a tip because as miserable as I was, I still tipped. Had I realized how much the amount was, I would've had a different reaction.

The most I have ever paid for a haircut and color in my life was $225. And that was at a much fancier salon with someone who consistently did a decent job of cutting my hair, and yes, it was a "color correction" as she called it about 50 times. It was exactly the same thing, going from purple to red. I had not bothered asking the price ahead of time because I know the person can't predict how much color they're going to use, etc. I never dreamed it would be over $300. The place I went before I moved here was anywhere from $40 to $70 plus tip, depending on what kind of coloring we were doing. If that was a no color day, it was less than that. So yeah, I was quite shocked.

I should've never set foot in there.

Tricia is amazing! I won't let anyone else touch my hair! She always knows exactly what I want and never fails to make my hair look gorgeous! If you're looking for a new hair salon give her a try, you won't be disappointed!

Tricia, Tricia, Tricia!!! I tell you, I hit the jackpot when I moved here. The lady I bought my house from suggested I go to a salon and try a stylist there who, as fate would have it, was booked. Tricia came out and talked to me about what challenges I had had and what I wanted from my hair. Then she executed. Boy oh boy did she hit the mark!! The color was BEAUTIFUL and my dry, coarse feeling hair was transformed into a silky chic style. She had a vision for what would look good on me and tempered it with my lack of styling skill to give me a look that was functional AND adorable!! The big bonus is that her prices are GREAT. I will not go to another.
