Shine Salon in Wauwatosa, WI

I really love shine. I heard about shine from a friend that comes here, and I have been going to see Angela for about a year now. I have loved everything she has done! The salon is clean, it does not smell, and the stylists and receptionists are so kind. I came once during winter and the hot water heater went out, making the wash a little chilly! Lynn, the owner, apologized profusely (I really did not mind, it happens!) and sent me home with a complimentary Aveda product. I am by no means a hair expert, and I rarely know what to do with my hair, but Angela always produces excellence. My hair is silky, smooth, smells great, and looks AMAZING! She is kind, conversational, and quite possibly the nicest person I know, no joke. I will continue to come to and recommend Shine as long as I live in Milwaukee.

I came here after reading great reviews. I had wanted to get color with Lynn but was encouraged to see another colorist due to Lynn's busy schedule and was told she would be a great fit given I was trying to cool the warmth in my all over color. I did not go in with a specific idea in mind but just shared that I wanted very natural looking, low-maintenance highlights and to take out some of the reddish tones. Balayage was suggested during a consult and I trusted the confidence of the stylist. After a long color appt and about $250 later after tip, I was left with streaky 90's highlights that were super ashy in front and orange in the back and with an all over color that was far redder than the original. I wanted to give it a few days to see if it would mellow out and look more like what had been suggested, but ended up coming back to ask for either a fix or partial refund to go elsewhere to get it fixed. The manager told me repeatedly that it looked fine, it was probably just the lighting in my house, the way I parted my hair, the color I originally had still coming through, or my fault for not coming in with something more specific in mind. I felt really uncomfortable by this but I did end up getting it fixed because the original cost was a big purchase for me. During another 3 hour appt I appreciated that they were willing to try to fix my color. It was a lot better after the second round of trying to tame the chunky streaks but is still uneven overall, especially when I pull my hair back (which I told the stylist is all I do). Several weeks later I'm still bothered by it, which I've never experienced before after color elsewhere. Finally decided to review at the encouragement of a friend. Love to support local but this experience was negative for me!

I had a wonderful experience today at Shine Salon. I saw Lynn the owner. She is really talented! She did exactly what I wanted and I love my color! I have been wanting my hair to look like this for so long, and finally she got it!

Super happy with my cut and color; prices were reasonable, they asked me up front what I do and don't like in my hair, and gave me tons of great styling tips! The scalp and hand massage is a bonus to. Will definitely go back again.

Lynn is not only an amazing colorist, she is also so fun to chat with, and her salon is beautiful! I loved the shampoo and hot towel treatment too. I'm a convert. Will definitely be going back. Sarah cut my hair and I loved that as well. Fabulous salon, with a fun atmosphere. I almost didn't want to leave. :)
