Via Shauna Robinson, owner of Salon Cheveux Int'l, an appointment was scheduled at her South Boulevard location with Lulu on 12/20/21. Both Lulu and Ms. Robinson told me Lulu is a braider not a stylist. However, Lulu said several times she could not do that exact style; however, she would work with me to help me come up with a style I'll like. I told Lulu because I appreciated her honesty and sincerity, I would allow her to braid and help me come up with a style I like. When Ms. Robinson came back to the South Boulevard location, I also told her why I had decided to let Lulu do my hair as she seemed to be an excellent employee.
Lulu braided and attempted to put my hair up one time. She told me my hair was wet and heavy and she did not want to hurt me; so, I needed to come back tomorrow for her to finish it. She told me to call her at 10:00 am and she'll let me know what time. Even thou I was thinking she should have given me a definite time, I went ahead and paid her in full ($180.00) and we left together. I called Lulu around 10:30 and she said she was waiting for her sister to get there and she'll call me back. When she did not call me back in timely manner, I called her again. Finally, she told me to come on now and I'll have to wait. When I asked how long, she stated that her sister was on the way. Before going, I called Ms. Robinson to let know what was going on and to see if she would intervene. She told me if Lulu told you to come now then go and if you have to wait, then wait. She further stated that she was with a client and can't talk now.
When I asked her what time will she finish her client's hair as I'll just come back then. She said, "6:00 o'clock but I might not be here". I questioned her about our agreement and seemingly annoyed, she made comments such as: "your appointment was yesterday....I did braid your hair...It's simple you need to wait until my sister gets here so I can finish yours while she works on my client's hair..." When I told her if she was not going to comply with the terms of our agreement, she needed to return my money. With a smirk on her face, she said:. "No, I did your hair yesterday." I sent a text message to Ms. Robinson indicating that I was not a happy camper. It was 12:00 pm and I needed to run one of my errands; so, before coming back I asked her to call me or I'll call her to see if her sister was there.
In conclusion, I ended up going to three different salons on South Boulevard before I found someone who finished my hair for $30.00 (pictures available upon request). When I returned home, I had two "Missed Calls" from Lulu's phone number (12:01 pm and 12:02 pm); however, she did not leave a message. Regrettably, it didn't seem to matter to Lulu or Shauna Robinson that she had not fulfill the terms of the agreement. I now know it was never about a good work ethic and good customer service, but rather, about getting the money. Thus, based on our agreement, the most appropriate resolution would be for Lulu to: (1) offer an apology and (2) refund the $180 plus the $30.00 to me.
