This is the best hair salon ever. Ryan is a hair genius- the reviewer who bashed him is totally misinformed. I have always had a fabulous cut and color here. Anthony and Lori are really super nice, professional, and welcoming! Also the hair washing person ( I forgot your name, sorry) is very kind!! They have things to drink, the shop is super clean and most importantly they listen to what you are asking for! Go here!! Take it from me! And I'm not related to them by the way
I had bad hair color experience in past so before going for another hair color I made one haircut appointment at Babooshka with Ryan. He gave me really nice haircut and I was quite satisfied with the results. Also, I was talking with him if I can get hair color of my choice. I told him about my past bad hair color experience and all the information he needed to understand what all my concerns are, where he assured me any hair color I want is surely achievable on my hair and he himself suggested half balayage is what I can go with. He gave me confidence to book another appointment with him for half balayage hair color and haircut. Looking forward I was so excited to finally get the look and color I want. I did my study and had pictures with me of color I was looking for. I would say they just wanted me to spend my money for another bad experience. Ryan didn't really listen to my request at all. My appointment was for half balayage but he said he will do in a way that they will look balayage and when I asked him why not balayage then he said it's not possible with your hair. I still have no idea why is that so ? And then he asked me weather I want the color on my bangs I firmly said no but he still did it and when I asked why did you color my bangs he said they would look disconnected otherwise, well then why you asked me at first place!!!! Anyways going forward I showed him the picture explaining the color I want and he did opposite not even close to my color choice. I wanted to have brunette Instead he did some kind of red . I don't know what red some kind of red tones or burgundy I don't know what color is this. Far from what I wanted. When he was showing me his color shades book I turned the page with any kind of red or burgundy tones . And specifically told him please no reds at all. But I don't think he was paying any attention to anything I was saying. The moment he washed my hair I immediately told him my god I don't want this, this is red then he started talking about the lights in the area is the reason it's looking this way that way. Once they are blow dried color would come out better.I told him to plz change it but he kind of kept arguing and telling me see this is what you asked for this is what you said you want. Well No No No No No I did not. I didn't see any point arguing then because I saw he was in no mood to fix it. And the haircut he gave me after that just took him 2-3 mins that's it ! 2-3 mins and I was as shocked. I still made another appointment just to be polite with the receptionist. But that appointment is canceled for sure. I am so disappointed that I won't recommend this place for hair color at all. And I agree with few reviewers here that Ryan doesn't really listen to your requests.
On to new 'hair' things... came in with a photo of what I wanted my color and cut to resemble (as many of us unrealistically do!)... rich, sable brown w/lots of highlights to brighten my face... Kirra seemed to know exactly what was needed to make this look happen. She went right to work and painstakingly added the color and the many highlights I requested. Well, as the they say, 'the best laid plans'... my hair, being what it is, stubborn and slightly over processed from decades of styling, grabbed the base of the color which didn't quite match the virgin roots... normally I would panic, but NOT TO WORRY!!! Kirra, being the consummate professional, knew EXACTLY what to do... a bit of clarifying shampoo, some CPR and VIOLA! my color was more fabulous than I originally even hoped for! Kudos to Kirra and the Babooshka crew for knowing their craft well enough to trouble shoot when things don't go as planned. Love this place and so happy to know I am always in good hands (or scissors if you will)!
I love this salon! I was referred here by a coworker who has fabulous hair that I compliment all the time. My Aunt now comes here as well. Ryan is my stylist and he is very talented. I have been seeing him for well over year. My Aunt sees Cathy and her hair has never looked better! The vibe of the salon is very friendly and inviting. I posted a picture of the color and beach wave Ryan did yesterday.(The one with Halloween make-up) Tons of compliments! I highly recommend this salon!
If you are interested in pampering your hair, this is the salon for you. I have had awesome experiences for the past 5 years with Annie as my hair stylist. My hair looks the BEST it ever has since I have been going to Babaooshka. Not only is Annie amazing but the rest of the staff is too! They all go out of their way to make you feel at home.
