Rosie's Hair Design in Pinellas Park, FL

If I could give Rosie's Hair Design zero stars, I would. I have never had such a bad experience with a hairdresser. I purchased a Groupon for a balayage, haircut, shampoo, and blow-dry. When I arrived for my appointment, I showed Rosie several pictures of the color that I had in mind. All of them featured very natural-looking highlights. The entire appointment took just over an hour, which surprised me since it's my understanding that balayage usually takes at least two to three hours. When I got home and was able to look at the back of my head for the first time (Rosie didn't offer to show me the back of my hair using a hand mirror, as other stylists have done in the past), I saw that there was essentially a line across the back of my head, with my natural brunette color on top and blond highlights below. I showed a picture of my hair to friends, and they all agreed that there was a very harsh line. I also noticed that there was what I can only describe as a "chunk" of blond that started halfway down the hair near the bottom of my head. I called Rosie that evening and left a message explaining the issue and asking if there was anything she could do to fix my hair. When I spoke to her the next day, she said that what happened was not her fault and that my hair turned out the way it did because it's too thin for balayage. She stated that because my hair is so thin, it can't be teased and it soaks up too much bleach. I explained to her that I didn't think my hair was the problem because I had gotten balayage done by another hairdresser about a year and a half prior and was very happy with those results. Rosie remained adamant that she hadn't done anything wrong. She also told me that she's a hairdresser and I am not, that there is nothing actually wrong with my hair, and that the highlights would look different depending on how my hair is combed. As I told Rosie on the phone, I don't believe that my hair's thickness was the issue, since I had successfully gotten balayage done in the past and my hair is about the same thickness as it was at that time. However, even if that were the case, I feel that Rosie should have alerted me to the potential problem at the beginning of my appointment and given me the opportunity to decide whether to proceed with the balayage based on that information. To Rosie's credit, she did offer to fix my hair by "diffusing" the highlights. If I'm understanding her correctly, this would involve dyeing some of the highlighted hair back to a darker color. However, given the experience I already had with Rosie highlighting my hair, and the fact that she repeatedly said my hair wasn't thick enough for balayage, I didn't feel comfortable with her performing a similar process again. I also don't think this would solve the problem of the existing highlights starting halfway down the back of my head. I asked Rosie to simply dye all of my hair back to its original color and she refused, stating that she wouldn't do that because it wasn't the service we had originally agreed to. I pointed out that the highlights I received weren't what we had agreed to either, since they looked nothing like the pictures I had shown her, but she still refused, saying that a full color would cost an additional amount. I asked her if she would give me a refund instead, and she refused that as well and said that I would need to contact Groupon if I wanted a refund (I've since done that, and Groupon will only credit me $12.75 in Groupon Bucks, which is less than a quarter of the $60 I originally paid). After my appointment with Rosie, I visited two other salons for corrective color consultations, and they quoted me $175 and $95 respectively to fix the highlights. I've since had the color corrected at the less expensive salon, and am very happy with the new highlights. Based on the results of my appointment at Rosie's Hair Design, as well as Rosie's response to my complaint, I strongly discourage anyone from visiting Rosie's Hair Design for hair coloring services.

So this is the experience I had working with Rosie- originally wasn't able to honor/ stick with what we originally agreed upon... no biggy im flexible, welp should've called for a major stop when I saw the dry clumps of bleach, the limited ability to stay on task, inability to manage the assistant who had the worst attitude and couldn't even properly wash my hair(still found Dried product to rewash when I got home)... but instead I tried to stick it out, but found no root covering, no tip covering, no evenness whatsoever! Worse than that when I called and sent the initial picture of the pony tail with obvious and crooked lines on it like a month growth out, I was told usually they would charge to fix (which I laughed at and stated won't pay for same job twice!- then did state I could come 3 days later to "donut" which would hopefully blend the crisp line work... long story short I wouldn't trust her again with my hair at all that was number one, two- trust the gut I should've left when I realized I wasn't very much a priority at all let alone that she was actually as capable as she seemed.... lesson learned, rarely do I write bad reviews but this one is definitely a buyer beware! 1st visit there for 2 tone highlights and a haircut. Rosie is excellent and patient. It is always a big step going to a new salon and this one was worth the move. Great service!
