Rob Trugman's Reincarnation in Summit, NJ

I started going to see Rob five months ago. I couldn't be happier. He is the only barber/stylist I've met that I can call a true professional. Prior to him, people gave me excuses for why my hair looked good for just a short while; everything from "that's just your hair (or head)", to "that's because of how you sleep". Rob is more money per visit, but fewer visits - saving time and money- but most importantly, my hair looks good for 4-5 weeks.

I do not live in NJ but have family who've been going to Rob for many decades and claim he's a national treasure. I don't tend to get my hair cut/styled at salons (they do), use color (they do) or really do much to my hair beyond wash it (they do). So I wasn't feeling the need to go to his salon several visits ago, and went begrudgingly because they nagged me and were paying. I have been converted. Rob is truly an artist and has found ways to cut, style and color my hair that are very complimentary to my aging face, EASY to take care of, and make me look much younger while looking totally natural. We joke that I come to NJ now, not to visit family but to get my hair touched up and visit with Rob. You can see evidence of his dedication to the craft by looking at his collection (mounted on the wall) of various scissors, the many certificates he has earned or been given in gratitude, the many awards he's received...and in testament to his ability, most of his clients come to him via word of mouth. I don't think he even advertises. He's truly talented and I do seem to come to NJ more often these days...

While Rob's haircuts are a little expensive, I can easily say they are worth every dollar. His attention to every detail is what sets him apart. He takes care of his regulars and has always tried to fit me in even when I have given him short notice. I'd recommend him to anyone.

I've been going to Rob for several years now, after having my share of mediocre or actively bad cuts. Rob is interesting and a bit quirky (in a good way), making visits comfortable and easy. He's extremely skilled - I've never had a bad cut. Although he doesn't generally have kids as clients (while Rob I think is good with kids, the place is not geared to them), he also cuts for my 10 year old son, who had a particularly bad experience with another local place. My son now enjoys getting his hair cut, doesn't want to go anywhere else, and looks great.

Rob is the consummate hair care professional. A "hidden" gem, offering a complete array of hair care services for men and women, Rob is an award-winning stylist, with down-to-earth customer care. He brings NYC quality hair styling to the 'burbs, without the attitude. I have never been disappointed after leaving his Salon.
