Pure Bliss Salon Spa in Birmingham, AL

I really don't like leaving bad reviews and only leave them if I truly believe it will save someone from going thru what I did. So, I think my experience needs to be known. I was going to this place for my mani/pedis so I decided to let Julie do my hair. I hoped I had found a one stop shop which would've been so convenient since we live within walking distance of the salon. So, I made an appointment for highlights with Julie and at first I thought it looked good but when I started really looking at it, I saw how horrible it was. It really just seemed like she didn't care bc it was so sloppy. My highlights were so far from my roots it looked like I needed it done not just got it done. It was very yellow and when I went in my highlights were really light almost platinum so I don't know how she messed it up so bad.  Honestly, I should've said something to the owner right away. My haircut in the back was crooked, yes crooked. It was embarrassing having others tell you that your hair is yellow and crooked. I had to live with it for 8 weeks bc I wasn't going to have more bleach put on my hair. From what I've recently learned, she has cut several crooked haircuts so I'm not the first. This salon is in Mt. Laurel, you would think they would have extremely well trained stylist. I know the owner is very talented with color and cuts so if you choose to use this salon make an appointment her and her only. I think, there's only three hair stylists in there. So, Julie charged me more then what I was quoted but didn't do anything extra so I was a little confused. In fact she didn't even tone it. Well, her tip was the extra charge bc it was 30 bucks over what I was quoted. I wouldn't recommend her for any blonde unless you want yellow, brassy highlights. Thank goodness for some really good purple shampoo that made it look decent for 8 weeks until I found a competent hair stylist which thankfully I found Amanda at The Color Lab, she's wonderful with blondes. Now, I was also a faithful customer to a nail tech at this salon but I will not be returning to her either. There's too many good nail techs in this town to deal with petty drama and rudeness. I canceled a recent nail appointment because a family member needed my help and I was able to help that day. I canceled 48 hours in advance when they only ask for 24 hours but I was trying to give her an opportunity to fill my appointment time. Well, on that day I missed 7 FT calls from her and had text messages asking if I was coming when I told her I canceled my appointment she came back saying, "Well, it's still on the books, who did you speak to bc I know they give their name when they answer the phone?" She continued saying, "I need to get to the bottom of this." Obviously there's something going on between her and other stylists bc it seemed to me like she was worried someone didn't inform her I canceled. Well, I told her I was sorry and explained I had canceled by email, which I had communicated with the salon thru their online booking/email site before and had zero issues. After I told her that she didn't say another word, just ignored my text messages. I'm not dealing with that kind of behavior or attitude from someone who does my nails and is supposed to help me relax for a little while. It's just petty and immature. Not to mention they don't have a good selection of gel nail polishes AT ALL. I was always settling for a color I wast trilled about. Several times, in less than a week I had to go back into the salon and get my gel polish fixed and each time I was told it is was because the polish was really old. Seriously??? Who does that?! Pure Bliss salon that's who. So, in closing, I wouldn't recommend this salon for hair or nails unless you let the owner do your hair. There's a lot better places in Birmingham and along 280 for hair and nails, better places with a huge selection of gel polish's

Sam is great!!  The prices are a little high, but the service is great! They are always very friendly and accommodating!  I'm a regular!!

Nikki is amazing! She takes the time to listen to you and makes sure that she understands what you want to have done to your hair. There is a lot of natural light so you are not surprised by a different color later. I have never been happier! You can make your appointments online also if you like. I highly recommend Nikki. She is an expert in hair color and has a sweet disposition.

I really messed up my hair with a store bought hair color. I'm a blonde and ended up with gray!! Julie W. Completely fixed my hair and gave me an AMAZING hair cut. The owner was very helpful toast well! I will recommend to all!!

Wasn't the same after Miranda left. Wish they had extended evening hours. I work so can't get in there during the day and Saturdays are filled with family commitments. I'd love them to succeed.
