Platinum Salon in Pittsburgh, PA

I visited the salon the first time to see Judy after having her highly recommended by a friend. Judy is awesome took her time with my hair. The end result is fantastic and much more manageable than the style I had previously. The salon itself is very nice and clean; I highly recommend both Judy and the salon!!

I got the best hair cut I've had since coming to Pittsburgh--even better than many in NYC. John is an artist, and maybe a wizard!! I walked in with a bush and walked out looking good and feeling like a diva!! And we had a good time too. Also appreciated the washing and neck massage before. Haven't been that relaxed in months! This is a great place.

Andrea is relatively agreeable to price discussion and working with you on price if you go regularly. She did my hair well; one mishap after a couple years of going there. Not bad!

I've been coming here to get my hair cut for a while now. It's honestly the best salon I've been to. I'm not an overly fussy guy but my hair has so much volume that is looks very mushroomy when not cut right. Unfortunately, when I cheap out (yeah, SuperCuts) it always comes out awkward. Platinum knows how to cut hair. Nathan in particular. That man looked at my hair for a full five minutes like it was a block of immaculate granite. Finally, he saw the piece of art that was hiding within and let it free. Everyone's nice and participates in salon-wide banter which is a great diversion while getting your hair cut. The prices are incredibly reasonable considering the effort and time they put into your hair. I usually pay 30-40 bucks and tip 10. Honestly, for the quality, the price seems a bit cheap if you ask me.

It's a privilege to be the first to review this place on Yelp. I tried two other places in Pittsburgh, both of which were pretty bad. I should have known better than to go anywhere but Lawrenceville for quality. (It's already been reviewed at Citysearch: http://pittsburgh.city...) What's to love? -Beautiful interior; high ceilings; flowers all over the salon; inviting, warm colors. -John. John! JOHN!! Amazing. He's funny, sassy, engaging, and attentive. -Location is great. Right across from the gorgeous 47th St. entrance to the cemetery, and not too far from New Amsterdam (bar) and Ambiance (vintage shop). What's not to love? -John ran over about 20 min with his appointment before me. I don't mind waiting some at a salon; it's not a science, so running over is acceptable. But when it's 20 min., the receptionist needs to acknowledge that, apologize, and give me an estimate. This receptionist sucked. She just asked me to have a seat and then disappeared. Flighty, bad ink, and said absolutely nothing after I paid her. This salon deserves better. -No website; and what does come up for them on Google is a site for a like-named salon in Wichita. Overall, I'm relieved. I found a salon I like and a stylist who is awesome. Now to work on getting on that needed staff change....
