I was in need of a hair salon as we are new to OP. It's hard finding stylists you trust. Based on research I decided to give Paisley and Stripes a go and went with Jennifer whose been there since the salon opened! She was clearly experienced, listened to what I wanted and have her suggestions that would suit me! I was very pleased and will be going back! the staff is also warm and welcoming!

I'm only writing this because I believe that booking was misleading. My stylist was so nice and did her best, I hope people with a different kind of hair support her. But I'm a brown person with curly hair, so I am accustomed to being disappointed with styling. People always rush at the end and squish your not fully dry curls and they turn out frizzy and you can't quite see what it's supposed to look like. I booked here, with the stylist I chose expecting this. She did a great job with the initial cut actually and was very flexible in fixing the things I was pointing out. However, in addition to being dissatisfied with the styling, I was charged $100+ more than what I expected but was not told about that at any point before payment. At some point I should have been told there would be a charge for a glaze (not included in the highlights), a thick hair fee (even though I was getting a curly specific haircut) or a salon fee (I don't even know what this is). When you book there's a tiny *prices subject to change, but when the cost shifted that much I should have been told so I had the choice to opt out. I don't recommend BIPOC folks go here, because the business practices aren't made for our hair and in the end you're styling won't be worth it. I will name that I liked my highlights, but I won't be returning, not because of her, but because of those fees and the surprise I felt in the end.

I wanted a partial updo for a holiday party I was attending. Their website claims they offer styling for special occasions. They texted me ahead of time to ask what kind of style I wanted and I sent a couple photos and they said they were going to have me see another stylist than the one I booked at random. When I arrived, it was shared with me that they don't really do updos because they're not popular and that after I booked my appointment they asked if any stylists even wanted to take it and they would've just canceled my appt if no one was interested. It made me feel like I was odd/weird/uncool for wanting a partial updo. The whole time I was there, they were doing some kind of influencer photo shoot. My hairstyle turned out ok and the apprentice the put me with was nice, but she wasn't able to get my hair anywhere close to the inspiration photos I sent in.
A few months later I went to another salon that offers styles, blowouts, etc. and they were able to quickly replicate the exact hairstyle from the same inspiration photo and shared that most of their business was styling - I felt really comfortable there and don't plan on returning to Paisley & Stripe.

Went to Paisley & Stripe Salon for the first time and got my hair cut by Adrian. Great attention to detail and really happy with how my hair came out. Appreciate his consult as I looked to do something different.
