Ooh La Lal Hair Salon in Ellicott City, MD

I saw Amanda a few weeks ago to dye the underside of my hair neon pink, and I have never received so many compliments on my hair. She does an amazing job! She thought to add depth to the brown portion of my hair for contrast and the two colors are stellar - Amanda also recommended a color shampoo that adds pigment, and after one wash it's still just as vibrant. This was my third visit with her and I'm definitely going to keep going back! Ooh La Lal is a super cute spot and right in the middle of Old Ellicott City. Highly recommend.

Their prices have all skyrocketed so they are losing customers. Not even my lawyer charges me $100 an hour.

I highly recommend this salon!! :) I was desperate for a cut, and did not at all expect a same day appointment (especially being a new client), but they were kind enough to take me. The staff is amazing, so personable yet professional. The building is so charming and beautiful and super clean! And I really felt safe during this whole pandemic mess. My haircut turned out great! I have curly hair and it can be challenging but she did such great work! I'm so happy and grateful. :) The entire experience was a pleasure, I never had to wait, it was quick but correct..... I LOVE this place!! price was excellent, I have done my hair many times over the years, and the price was always hard to swallow.. not here!! AND I did not suffer any lesser quality for the better price!! Alex took her time to listen to me, to understand my desires, my hair is a BEAUTIFUL color, the style is just what I was asking for!! I am super happy and will be back!! THANK you!!! I felt SO confident at my son's graduation!!

A crap-tier hair salon that is out of their mind. If you want hair coloring done correctly, expect to pay 5x their old prices. I have visited this hair salon 3 times and had moderately great experiences every time. Each visit was for hair color and the hair stylists I've had tried their best to get the color I had wanted. Yes - I have long dark hair. I've visited this salon for an blonde ombre hair coloring session on my LONG BLACK hair. That visit costed me around $100-120 and because they did not get the right look the first time, they offered for me to come back the next day to get the hair color I requested. Because of the process, I even tipped 60% of the bill. The next two visits were for red hair color which also had the same process. If I did not like the color, they offered me to come back for the right color and I only took that offer up in one of the two last visits. Each visit was roughly around $100, which I also tipped heavily. I called for another hair color appointment over the phone earlier last week and the person speaking on the phone also confirmed the appointment. I even mentioned on the first phone call that I would rather have the 10:00am appointment than the 1:00pm "because my hair will take a long time to dye". The person I was speaking to nonchalantly agreed and set the appointment up. Two days ago, a person reaches out for a confirmation and leaves a voicemail to confirm a "hair appointment" with me. I called her back confirming the "hair appointment". I even mentioned comments on hair coloring, the costs for it since they updated their prices, etc. At the time of the appointment, the person I spoke to on the phone attempted to defend herself on her mistake, saying she definitely said "haircut" when literally, Sammy, I have a voicemail transcript of you saying "hair appointment". At the time of the hair appointment, I was scheduled with a stylist named Britney, someone I've never had before. It seems that they always send me a new person every single visit I've had. She attempted to explain to me that she doesn't have time to do the hair coloring today - a mistake on their part even when I requested for a hair color correctly. She also mentioned that dying my hair the color I would like (darker pink) would take at least 2 sessions that would take most likely 2-3 hours per session at the starting rate of $100/hour, essentially implying a total of $600. I have had services that required bleaching my hair before at this location and the cost was around $120. Because they did not bleach my hair correctly the first time, they offered me to come back in order to get it right. Now, they are telling me it will cost $600 and possibly more "since I have long hair" to get what I would want. I've had long hair when I had my ombre done at this salon, and now suddenly the cost is 5x the original amount. I understand my hair is long and dark, but that didn't seem to be a problem in the last 3 visits. Suddenly, it is! I would understand paying 2-3 times the original cost to get the color I had wanted, but 5x as much for literally the same long dark hair you've colored before? You're out of your mind.
