I went to this place yesterday only to be turned away because, get this, they don't do braiding!  That's right, the first lady asked what I needed, when I first walked in and I told her that I was wanting to get my hair braided and she asked me to show her a picture, which I did of just cornrows with a top bun, then she proceeded again to tell me that they don't do braids!!! Then another girl walked up and she asked her if they have a braider and she actually said, "I don't know" in a attitude that was like she could care less if I got helped or not. Then the first lady asked when I wanted to get them done and I told her I wanted to make an appointment on either Sunday or Monday like their voice mail says you can do when you call their number. She then denied that their message said that and said they were closed on both of those days. Now I don't know if they just didn't want to do my hair because they thought I was white and just didn't want to bother with me.  But to go to a African hair shop that doesn't even do simple braids, to me is strange. I hope they weren't discriminating against me, but it sure felt like it.  Just wish I could find someone to braid my hair, but I'm having a hard time. I live in downtown St Louis, but am willing to travel a little bit for a some braids!

I brought my daughter in about a month ago to get locs installed. I told the stylist my daughter has always had a very a sensitive scalp, and that it gets extremely dry (right after I oil it) and she has a dandruff build up. I told her that her hair growth was stunted, and maybe the locs would help it. The stylist told me to use a spray bottle with water and oil in it, and that would help. After a few days, I noticed my daughter scratching her head constantly to where I could see it flaking back up (This was w the stylist recommendation to spray her hair w natural oils and water). Next I noticed clean spots above her ears, some of the locs began to break her hair off, it was literally hanging on by strands. I had to make the easy decision, TO REMOVE THE EXPENSIVE LOCS! My daughter complained that the locs hurt, and the scalp area where it hurt was red, and hurt to touch it. It took me 6 hours to remove those locs. Next, I called a stylist that specializes in natural hair care. She told me that my daughter's scalp needed to be lifted, because my daughter had years of dead skin layers, which clogged her pores and as a result stunted her hair growth. My daughter also has eczema, the new stylist to me to make an appt. with a dermatologist, bc she may have eczema in her scalp. My appt. with the new stylist was at 2:30 pm, we did not leave until 7pm. She took the time to lift her scalp (section by section), she did a scalp treatment. The new stylist was disgusting and was in utter disbelief the Napps, stylist did not take the time to lift the scalp as well as do a scalp treatment on her hair. She also pointed out that my daughter's hair flaking  was so severe that It couldn't have been looked over or ignored. She expressed the stylist did not want to take the time to provide proper healthy, hair care services to my daughter but she put in a style that damaged her hair. I'm one that doesn't mind paying extra for something to be done the right way. I brought her to Napps, only because of their longevity in St. Louis and what I assumed to be knowledge of black hair care. I feel taken advantage of, especially paying for such an expensive hair style, not being able to get my money back and having to take it down.

Called the day before and spoke with the stylist to come in at 11 for an appointment. I showed up at 1110 (parking on a Sat was terrible downtown.) and the stylist NiNi still wasn't there. I didn't trip typical of salons to start a little late but ended up waiting till almost 12 before I had to leave. None of the other stylist knew where she was. I heard her verbally agree to meet at 11 and she legit NEVER SHOWED! I WILL NEVER RETURN. I would NEVER recommend. The environment seems nice but the total disrespect and lack of consideration for my time was a deal breaker. Maybe it's just the stylist NiNi. Either way it's a NO.

Why set an appointment and then not be present when it's appointment time? I needed my hair done before leaving town for vacation, set my appointment for ten am, and when I showed up all the lights were off. When someone showed up ten min later, he gave me some excuses that didn't explain or apologize for any reason why I should be waiting. When my stylist finally did show up, as well as the others, she was more interested in talking to everyone around her about her singing career and going on tour than doing my hair. The unprofessional way everyone was interacting really bothered me. No apologies for tardiness or anything. Raunchy music playing extra loud. Fussing at me because I didn't want a style (because I didn't want to pay anymore money).

Plus they don't take cards. In 2017. Bump that. I went to the ATM, which charged me a fee, and decided that was her tip since everyone in the salon wanted to waste my time and money.

As far as the work, she barely palm rolled my locs. The scalp was retwisted but the locs looked a mess for my vacation to see my family. Disappointing.
