MenSalon in Rochester, MN

As the acclaimed actress Betty Davis stated in the legendary movie Beyond the Forrest " What A Dump ! " My husband is an acclaimed attorney from San Francisco. Given his busy schedule, he took an appointment for a haircut Saturday afternoon, as he could not get in to the better salons in the city on a moments notice. He was satisfied with the cut and left a $40.00 gratuity. I would be sure, given this hole in the wall salon, a tip of this sort is rare at best. In fact when arriving at this strange location, we though it to be a family home in a neighborhood of Rochester, until the taxi driver assured us, this was the place we had the address for! Nevertheless, my husband booked a blow-dry for the following Monday morning, given his appearance in the Superior Court that afternoon. Given the fact of the odd location of this so-called "salon" the taxi driver could not find the place and my husband was 20 minutes late. I had called to inform the "salon" of the problem, in fact I called twice! The owner Cruella de Vil... ! What a witch... screamed at us upon finally arriving. Standing in her shorts an tee shirt behind the counter, she told us to "get out" or she was "calling the coops"...Oh! My! Of course, we departed immediately, returned to our hotel and the lovely concierge arranged for a private stylist to come to our suite. Just so you are aware... as we are from California and consider ourselves sophisticated individuals, the "salon" practices NO hygiene procedures once so ever... The bowls were hair is washed are no disinfected between use, the same tools of sort ... are used on each and every person. While waiting for my husband, I walked around the entire salon, Dare Not Get A Pedicure! the area housing the chair and bowl was filthy. Basically it comes back to originally what I stated at the beginning of this review.. Please excuse my French! The " Salon " is a justified DUMP and should be closed down by the Health Department of Olmsted County.

I've lived in Rochester for four years and wish I could take this business with me on my upcoming move away from the area! Mechelle and her staff are all so kind, professional, and talented. They have great hair & grooming products that supplement their excellent customer service and well-priced haircuts. During the COVID era, they maintained an incredibly safe environment while continuing to deliver excellent services. I recommend MenSalon to anyone in Rochester looking for the best service at the right price.

While visiting my son and his family I went to the MenSalon without an appointment. The stylist, Beth,was able to take me immediately. She listened to what type of cut I wanted and proceeded to give me the best haircut I have had in over three years. Unfortunately I won't be able to commute from Hilton Head Island every three weeks, but will make a point of using the MenSalon each and every time I return to Rochester. A truly exceptional and professional organization.

Great Place for Kids . We've finally found a place to take my 2 year old son . With the accommodations of small tv to very friendly staff. I highly recommend this place . From the outside it looks much smaller but you'd be very surprised upon entering. The rates are slightly steep. $18 for a kids haircut seems high . This is my only complaint. Also the difference from 4-5 stars. But definitely worth a visit!

This is a bit of a hidden little gem in Rochester. Even though it's primarily a men's salon, my wife, who wears her hair very short, goes here as well and is always treated wonderfully and welcomed. After trying several other shops in the area, I was absolutely thrilled with the results I got here, and won't go anywhere else. They do tend to be really booked up, so it's not always easy to get a same day appointment so just plan ahead. I can't even recommend a particular stylist, because they all do such a wonderful job. Very clean, well appointed shop and they sell great products as well. So happy with my experience here!
