okay if anyone reading this has thick hair (especially if it's thick and long and weighing you down and also everytime you go somewhere they make the shocked face of kh you have so much hair) Elam at Maude is a godsend. I've been to her twice in two years because I usually grow my hair out and each time it has grown out beautifully, she takes her time and makes sure that your hair is well taken care of and shaped. I'm writing this review three weeks after getting five inches off and I'm even more in love with the cut than when I left the salon. I know haircuts are pricey but at the very least you know your money is going to someone who is good at that craft and cares!
Good luck getting an appointment - for whatever reason they don't do In person consults for color which is silly because nobody's hair color looks accurate in a photo; they rarely have availability, refuse to do hair washes without full (expensive) blowouts regardless of if you need or want one, etc etc. I mean Jesus Christ. Way to ward off every prospective client! I hope they change their rigid policies.
Cute salon, staff is very welcoming, and Nini (stylist) was fantastic! I have super thick Asian hair - been wearing it in a mom bun for far too long. I wanted to chop it off, but wanted some input on what would be the most flattering. Short bob? Angled bob? Longer bob? Flat ironed or curled? Nini was super supportive and gave me some great recommendations. I will definitely be coming back again!
Thank goodness for Maude! After several years of bad cuts and bad color, a friend recommended Maude. Thank goodness. Now my hair always looks good!! Seriously!! Pretty much always. It even grows out well. I trust them with my hair - it would take a lot to get me to go somewhere else.
Service depends on the stylist you get. I went in to cover up my grey hair with a Demi permanent medium brown shade and ended up with it almost black with a green tinge. I was told it would 'wash out' next time I shampooed. I shampooed that evening. The green tinge didn't wash out for over a month. I ended up having to go elsewhere to correct the color. I was kinda offput that the salon techs talked about witchcraft and new age, which is fine if that's your thing, but not everyone cares for it.
