MAD Aveda Salon and Spa in Sacramento, CA

Nice guy who did my hair. Very polite. Not sure if hair highlights are supposed to look like this, but will try out Richard next time based on all of his reviews. Not sure who did my hair. Positive experience overall. Feedback: fatter highlights and less hair being highlighted would had been better. 95% of my hair is "highlighted" vs 40-50%. I'm not mad. Just giving feedback. Almost all my natural black hair is gone. I showed the guy a picture of black hair with a few highlights.... now most of my hair is brown. :(

Went here for a blowout before Covid. The spa experience was nice. Extra massaging on scalp during wash. Stylist round brushed hair which is fine but didn't finish off with flat iron. Looked like a 10yr old did my hair. My edges were a hot mess! Had to flat iron my entire head when I got home. I always get a blow out at a new salon when I'm interested in other services. If they can pull it off I'll book again for trim or maybe color. Not here friends, not here!

My main stylist is Richard. Since I've been going here, the services have been excellent. I'm always greeted promptly when I walk in. I have never had a bad hair experience with Richard and he's on time for his appointments. Richard treats me with professionalism and truly meets my haircare needs. I only wish he was in Orange County:(

I think the name for the salon is rather ironic... Strands. It's salon that I take one of my older neighbors to so that she may get her hair done. She selected strands several years ago, and one day they literally shut down. They recently opened back up, but no one will say what caused the closure. My neighbor isn't thrilled with it, but it's convenient and easy for her and that's all that matters. I don't find any of their styles to be anything other than dated. The salon staff definitely comes across as either inexperienced, or just not properly trained. It's almost like beauty school rejects. The place is always fairly clean, and has the typical salon odors lingering in it. I have wondered in the past based on comments that my neighbor has made to me, if they are heavy handed with the chemicals, because she is definitely complained about her scalp feeling uncomfortable. My neighbor always makes an appointment, but I have been with her on a couple of occasions where people have walked in and have been turned away for not having an appointment. While I know that that is standard practice in some of the more upscale salons, this is of the type of place that one would think you would need an appointment for. I actually try the place out once myself. I've had foot surgery and being able to wash and dry my hair was an impossibility on my own. So I figured that they were close enough, that going there would be great. I had specifically asked about the type of shampoo that they used, and it seemed OK. The service wasn't great, and when my hair was being dried, I walked out of there looking like a hot mess It's a salon. They seem to be fairly reasonably priced for what they offer, and parking is free. They share a lot with a number of other local businesses/restaurants

I have been coming to this salon for over 3 years and cannot believe I haven't left a review! Stop searching and come here! The moment you walk in, they greet you with a smile and get you checked in. They offer coffee or water and make sure you are comfortable before the appointment begins. The staff is incredible. They are friendly, professional and very good at their jobs. Richard does my hair! He seriously does incredible work. You can find his work here on yelp photos, too. Again, stop searching and go to Richard!
