Leaf AVEDA Salon Spa in St. Petersburg, FL

I had gone there for a color of a small brown tone just to give my dark brown hair highlights, nothing drastic as it was my first time getting my hair color. I left with blond orange highlights! I was so devastated! I just went to a different salon and cut my hair up to my shoulders just to rid of it as much as possible. Not what I had expected my first coloring to go.

This was my first time going to this salon. I was a walk-in. I was asked to have a seat and told my stylist would be right with me. I waited maybe five minutes. No where near as long as I thought it would be. My stylist came out and introduced himself. Sam. We went to his chair. He examined my hair and discussed the style I wanted. He gave me the best shampoo experience I've ever had in a salon. He then cut my hair. I can be extremely difficult about my hair. I never like it when I look in the mirror after a cut. This is the only exception. I didn't like it, I LOVED it! Sam was friendly and very professional and demeanor was calming. I booked my next appointment before I left. This is something I don't usually do. Overall it was a pretty awesome experience. I'm going to recommend him to all my friends. This salon is lucky to have Sam.

I was told on the phone my appointment for a full highlight would be $130, when I sat down to begin I was then told the price was $250. I said I didn't understand because I specifically asked the price for my stylist and for a full highlight and was told $130. I was given the response that they were sorry, prices can sometimes be confusing, but they don't offer that service at that price at all. I ended up getting a partial highlight and the result and service were not worth the money.

I've been here at least 3-4 times and I leave disappointed every time. No matter what instruction I give for the haircut I desire, I feel the stylist just does whatever they want. This last visit, I was on time for my appt as I always am and had to wait at least 15 minutes to be taken back as I always do. I gave simple instructions to please just trim about two inches off the ends of my long hair and I left with about half the hair on my head that I walked in with. I can barely put my hair in a bun it's so short and thinned out. I paid $65 for a haircut I didn't want and didn't ask for and I won't be going back.

It was my first time going to an Aveda salon and I was not disappointed. CJ completely understood what I wanted (I said not too ashy or brassy and he said "Champagne!"). He began my treatment with a short, but wonderful massage and them took his time to correctly foil my hair so that my color looked better than natural. I was thrilled with the result. CJ just returned to St. Pete after a stint in Atlanta-don't wait to book him-I feel certain he will begin to book up quickly once word of his talent gets out!
