Landis Lifestyle Salon in Salt Lake City, UT

I was just stopping through Salt Lake and was looking for a quick cut and color and was SO impressed by Emma's work! She was such a pleasure to chat with and I will definitely be recommending her services! :) And coming back again! She is so talented!

If I based this review off of the first hour of my visit, it would have a completely different rating. However, that's the beauty of this review.

So I currently live in Eagle Mountain but I had a photoshoot in downtown SLC. I wanted to find a salon that was relatively close to downtown so my hair would look nice. I found Landis and booked an appointment online a few weeks in advance. I showed up for the appointment and waited in the waiting area for an hour. Apparently, the stylist called in sick...but waited until the salon called her and I had already been sitting there for an hour. Yikes, amirite?

Anyhoo, the front desk girl realized this was kind of an issue and hopped on fixing it. She was planning on rescheduling me but I explained that I had a photoshoot that day and needed something today. She pulled some strings and made it work. I was honestly super impressed. This situation was to no fault of her own but she took accountability to find a solution that worked.

She got me in with another stylist immediately. I was a bit skeptical, just because this wasn't off to a great start but I was willing to remain open about it. I told her what I wanted and showed her some pictures for reference. We talked about thanksgiving, restaurants, and normal life stuff.

The real magic started when we went over to the shampoo sinks. The chair had some kind of massage feature on it and it was awesome. It was truly the most comfortable shampoo sink experience I have ever had. This was probably a good thing because it did seem like we were over at the sinks for an ungodly amount of time. During this time, she also gave me a hand massage and massaged my scalp. For just dying some strands of hair, she really went all out.

When we first got back to the chair, I was terrified. My hair looked orange and I honestly was super worried about it. However, I feel like every time you come back from the shampoo sink, the key is to trust the process. As it dried more and more, I really grew to love it. She styled it just how I wanted it and I ended up liking the colors. I have received better hair color in the past, but given the circumstances of how last minute and crazy this was, it couldn't get any worse so it was difficult to disappoint me. My hair is a lot more orange than I ever would've liked. I am not the biggest fan but it is hard to know right away how it is going to look, especially with the lighting in the salon and the styling of my hair after it was colored. I really don't like it but again, I can't dog on her too much because she was so sweet and really tried to make it look nice.

I feel like my situation in the beginning was just a fluke and it doesn't look like it happens a lot. They did make it up to me and I appreciate that but there is still the worry in the back of my head that they don't have any preventative measures in place for this situation. Given the circumstances for making the appointment, it would've been really bad if I couldn't get my hair done at all on this day. I was glad they were able to squeeze me in but I hope they have a protocol for this not happening again in the future (including the part where I was waiting an hour in the lobby). The stylist I did end up having really turned it all around and I loved everything she did for me. I would definitely hesitate to go back but I wouldn't *never* go back.

Never had a bad experience with Shawn.  Highly recommend spending the extra time get higher experience and service.

The staff at Landis is pleasant, and the salon is clean and well maintained. The stylist I visit is experienced and competent, and gives her professional advice in order for me to get the results I want for a cut that I like. All in all, my experience at this salon has been lovely. I have been visiting this salon for a few years and I have been very pleased with my experience there.
