Knockout, a hair studio in Concord, NC

Ive been looking for a salon that cuts curly hair well and this place is that! The prices vary depending on which hairdresser you go with. They also do a scalp message, which is always a good thing. I have curly bangs so I'll come here to get them trimmed as well, which is a feature I haven't seen at other salons. You don't have to wait a long time to get a reservation either. I highly recommend coming here, especially if you have curls!

April has a wonderful, talented, and welcoming team of professionals that actually listen to what you want. I have been a client for waaay too many years to count and always receive compliments on my hair. I see other clients and they look fabulous as well. I brought my 13 year old daughter who has naturally curly hair In because she wanted to go short for the first time ever. Liz did such an amazing job! It's so hard to find a stylist who knows how to cut and style curly hair, but my daughter absolutely loves her hair! We will definitely be going back to see Liz!

I had a mixed experience. I called to setup an appointment- that process was pretty extensive, the receptionist put me on hold 5-10 times to check for answers and each time was for several minutes. So once I got all the reassurance on the styles, time, price and person who would be completing my child's head, we made the appointment. The weekend or day before the appointment my child took out their hairstyle, did some detangling and was ready.

On the day of the appointment, we arrived on time but the person we were supposed to have was doing another appointment. I was told that another stylist would be doing my child's hair. A total of 3 or 4 people worked on my child's hair- she has long hair and is very tender headed (which we said in the first call to make the appointment). The stylist kept asking if they could cut my child's hair, which was never discussed previously in prior communication. We didn't want it cut. My child at the time was ok with a cut but both parents said no.

Towards the end she asked again saying it would only be to remove dead ends and damaged hair, so I agreed. After the whole thing the stylist said to make an appointment to trim her hair for split ends and stuff which boggled my mind bc thats what she said she was doing anyways, and my child confirmed in the car that the stylist was only cutting hair that was too tangled bc it was taking to long.

At the end of the process, it looked very similar to what it looked like going into the shop. My child did wear her hair out in a mega From for about 1-2 weeks before it had to be twisted back up.

Knockout wanted to charge like triple of the agreed upon price. We went back and forth and a price CLOSER (not the quoted one exactly) to what was quoted to me was approved, which obviously cut into any type of good tip I was going to give (although I still did tip). The stylist then recommended my child return in a week for other hair services that she could provide for an exorbitant cost. Although my child had a fairly good experience in the shop (she had decent conversation with 2 of the stylists and they were patient when she did cry- again very tender headed), we have not returned since. It is possible that we will return in the future but only if we specify what the stylist we were supposed to get said to request.

The shop is clean and staff is fairly nice. Decor is cute. Location is decent in the Concord area. Again mixed feelings about the experience.

I went to Knockout to see Danielle for the second time last week. My first appointment she did a really great and much needed cut which I loved and my last appointment I went to get full highlights. She listened to what I wanted and the result was beautiful copper/red highlights. I absolutely love it and have received so many compliments from others as well.
