Jobe's Hair Braiding in Detroit, MI

I have ben going to Jobe's for over a year now and I LOVE how she does my hair she does it so FAST and they LAST forever!!!

I've been going to Jobe's for several years. I recently went to a different shop closer to my house and was NOT happy with the results so...on Friday, I'll be going back to where I ALWAYS get what I ask for. The last time I had my hair braided at Jobe's, was 4 years ago. I asked for my "semi-usual", cornrows in the front and regular box braids in the back. The braider said "you want feed in braids?" I had no idea what "feed in braids" were but, because I've always trusted them with braiding my hair, I said "sure...why not, I'll give em a whorl" Let me just say, I was thoroughly pleased! My braids looked amazing and I got compliments every single day while on my cruise. Sure, it's not the cleanest place in town and it does take them a while to get started but, all of that is worth overlooking because once they get started and there's almost always 2 braiders at a time, they're really fast. It's never taken them more than 4 hours to finish.

She doesn't really schedule appointments. Just call her 30 mins before you come in. My box braids came out ok. No complaints really other than she only takes cash.

Okay so for me this was my first time ever getting styled by an African Salon. I arrived at 9:50a and didn't get finished until 3:00p. I called first before I got there and she said she could take me now. So I come in and I waited an hour, then she left to go and get her sister to help. So I waited. So she finally starts at about 11:15a. Now it's her and her sister. So her sister is a bit nicer and slower. So then she leaves again to take her other sister home. Comes back at 12:22, then starts eating. Meanwhile her sister is still working on my hair. Then they switch. I got Senegalese twist and they are long. They charged me $180. THEY ONLY TAKE CASH! The conditions are nasty and they talk the entire time you're getting your hair done. Overall, I like my hair. They have horrible customer service, but their work is beautiful. That's with all Africans. If you can find somewhere with good customer service. GO THERE because this is NOT the place and it's NASTY! Like Dirty ! Lol

I scheduled an appointment to have braids taken out. The owner, told me to call 30 minutes before the appointment. I'm glad I did because she did not answer the phone or return my texts. I would have wasted a trip and my time. I had to seek out help at the very last minute since this business did not deliver. Very unprofessional and contributes to a bad reputation.
