Harwood Hair Company in Wauwatosa, WI

I've been going to Genevieve at The Harwood Hair Company for nearly 13 years and I think that alone speaks for how amazing she is. Genevieve has always taken her time, explains the process when I want to change my style or color, points me in the right direction on what products to use, is very thorough, compassionate and knowledgeable in all areas of hair care. Scheduling is flexible, prices are affordable and the salon is clean and welcoming. In addition to taking my children to her for all of their haircare needs, I have also referred several people over the years and they have all been beyond pleased with her work.

First of all my hair turned out cute, but like most people, I find going to a new salon pretty stressful. Instead of making me feel comfortable, my stylist, Genevieve, made no effort to make sure I was comfortable. She barely spoke and when she did she was rather condescending. Again my hair turned out okay but for overall experience I will not be back.

I had a pedicure with Kristin several days ago. She is extremely pleasant but pedicure was lacking. Tips of toes very rough and not buffed out smoothly. Nail polish left on toes. Her work area appears disorganized. Most concerning was her failure to use new buffer or file on my nails. Would not return due to that health concern.

Terrible experience. I have thick hair and the woman who cut my hair had NO experience cutting hair like mine and just did whatever she wanted to. OH - and since I was the last customer of the day, she rushed through it and did a horrendous job. My layers looked choppy and to try to fix it, she used a thinning tool, so now my hair is thin and flat. Save yourself the headache and DONT go here ever.

I typically don't like to leave poor reviews but I felt I needed to since I am still upset about my experience over 2 months ago. I tried this salon since it was in Tosa and was an Aveda salon. I won't name my specific stylist but I will say that she definitely needs some training. I showed her a few Pinterest pictures of what would be considered a long bob and asked her to do partial highlights. She cut my hair into a wedge. When she showed me the back of my hair I was mortified. I had been growing my hair out for months, I cut it myself to be the proper length, all she had to do was a little shaping. She tried 3 times to fix the back and finally I just had to tell her I liked it so she would stop cutting. Then she blamed my hair "you don't have hair like that" and said "next time you tell them to thin the crap out of your hair". BTW the stylist both before and after her were able to give me this haircut with no issue. She also had me sit under an electric dryer for my highlights which no other salon in my life had me do. She did the right thing and did not charge me for my haircut. Also, this place could use a coat of paint. It looks and smells old and gross.
