Hair World in Honolulu, HI

It's sad to see salon businesses with low ratings due to specific stylists. I come to Hair World to get my eyebrows done by the magnificent Sandra. She does THE ABSOLUTE BEST eyebrow waxing I've ever had in the entire world.

She knows what she's doing. And she puts all her energy and thought and emotion into doing them. She first looks at you straight forward and asks for you to look in certain directions so she can see how your eyebrows grow since every individual is different.

Then she has you sit in her chair where the magic happens, and she will not let you leave until she feels POSITIVE of her job well done. Sometimes has you stand up again and will continue plucking until it is PERFECTION.

If you have the time to read Yelp reviews they will benefit you in the long run because I love Sandra and the job she does to my brows :)

I will sum up my bad experience from beginning till end. First time I visited was over 3 hours before closing time and all the stylist where literally walking out door because they wanted to go home. Only one was left and she was totally booked. After I complained and told them that they were advertising closing hours much later but where already technically closed they called someone in if I waited a few minutes. Ok cut was $20 for youth I said ok not fancy place but not so high price that's kool I told my son here pay plus give them $10 tip. I live near by so when son walked home I was shocked at how bad lady had cut his hair. It was horrible I could of done better with clippers and I have never cut hair before. I went week later with my boy to confront them why such a bad job work was work of someone who in my opinion never cut before. Lady got hugely upset and began yelling at me that if I didn't like it never come back. That was even a worse shock. I asked her why she was yelling at me she said because I complained. I told her so you give me a bad haircut and I cant complain to you. She replied again yelling. No no just don't come back. I told her you charged me $20 to damage my sons hair. She yelled again what you don't like go somewhere else. I said it's not even about the money I even gave my son $10 extra for tip. And that was the only time she was decent for two seconds and replied low yeah yeah he did she even almost smiled. I said if you gonna be treating your clients like that I will give a bad review she said you cannot I will find you. Not sure if that was a threat or what but horrible experience. Lady can't cut worse customer service ever yelling at client because she did a bad job is unacceptable. I recommend don't ever set foot in front of her door. Cut your own hair if you have to you will likely cut it better and free and no one will yell at you.

Although this was my first time going to Hair World, it's my fourth time to have Peggy Balagia do my hair. I took in some pictures of the big change in color I was wanting and walked out feeling incredible. She's professional, always on time, and such good company... which is important when someone is holding a sharp tool near your hair and eyes.
My appointment was at 3 and I was able to park right in front. She was the only stylist with an appointment at that time, but another stylist came in during the time I was there. She was very friendly and said hello. I had read the other yelp* reviews before my appointment, so I was able to ask about this "Cheryl" that seems to have left quite the impression on some unfortunate customers. Well, not to worry, she's not there anymore. It seems she was only there for a couple of days. So, I'd highly recommend both Hair World and Peggy.

I have been going to John at Hairworld Niu Valley for about 3 yrs now. Liz is the owner and also does hair. My friends parents have gone to Liz for years as well.

I have no idea who this Cheryl Prell is but she doesn't sound like a goodwill ambassador for Hairworld. Liz and John are great. I'm 60 ish and came because my brother and sis in law have gone there for many years.

They are very professional. As far as youth and their styles are concerned, I can't comment on that. I can say that John is a great guy and I'm happy with his work. I also have a friend whom I referred to John. She also has been going about 3 yrs now with no complaints. Liz has had the salon I've been told about 30+ years.

Give THEM a chance! Aloha!

I bought an online voucher through Deal Center Hawaii, that cost $45.00 for a $125.00 (value) for haircut & partial highlight as a gift for my wife to use. It was such a horrible experience that I would not suggest anyone to go to this place. My wife's first call to make an appointment with Cheryl Prell (Master Stylist) should have been a tipoff as to how it would be. She was extremely loud & rude, absolutely no professionalism at all, in fact she scolded my wife during the call.
The day of the appointment upon arrival at the salon, Cheryl didnt have the appointment in her book & told my wife she would have to wait2 hours until she would be available & could cut her hair if she wasnt tired...this was at 11:00am. It would also cost an additional $50.00 because she said my wife's hair was too long, it's only shoulder length. We just left & won't use the voucher, lesson learned.
No matter the savings, you get (or dont get) what you pay for.

Bottom line: DONT GO TO CHERYL PRELL/HAIR WORLD. I hope you go out of business asshole!
