Great Clips in Mount Vernon, WA

Literally the worst haircut I've ever seen on my boyfriend. It was so bad we didn't want to go back and have the stylist fix it as she was also incredibly rude. 0/10

No, I would not recommend great clips. The wait time sucks it goes in and out absolutely not.

My 13-year-old brother went to Great Clips today to get a small haircut with layers. He struggles with cutting his hair because he does not like it to be cut too short, and all of his life he has struggled with anxiety about going into hair salons, to the point where he would cry getting his hair cut because of this. He had longer than shoulder-length hair and only wanted a few inches cut off, no more than 3 or 4, and wanted to keep some of the length and have it more layered. We had expressed this to our stylist, who was a middle-aged lady with curly brown hair, around shoulder length. We had expressed that he did not want a bob, or anything too short. He had just wanted a few inches off. She then took my brother to the back and asked him where he wanted his hair to be cut. He said that he wanted it to be cut below his chin, and layered. She started cutting it in the back, around bob length to his neck/chin and he very quickly expressed that it was too short. She then told him that it was too late and there was nothing she could do about it and proceeded to give him a very short haircut. She continued to pressure him, trying to give him shorter layers in the front of his hair to make him look more "masculine." He expressed that was not what he wanted, and as she did the layers they were very short and choppy and not what he wanted at all. He told her that he hated it and he was not happy with it at all, but she relayed to my father that she had tried to make it more "masculine than feminine." I do not believe that this was an acceptable experience whatsoever, and her personal beliefs on how hair should look on a boy should not reflect over in the workplace when that is not what he requested whatsoever. Her job as a hair stylist is to cut his hair how he requested, not to cut it to make it look more masculine by taking away the length and giving him a choppy bob with very short layers. That is not what he wanted at all and as he expressed that to her she did not listen, and continued to pressure him into having a shorter haircut, altogether going against his wishes and cutting it way too short. He is too embarrassed to be seen in public now, and he won't take his hair out of a beanie. He is scared to go to school and he feels worse about his hair now, when his hair should make him feel good and confident. We had a very awful experience and I do not believe that he should have been treated the way he was, he did not get anything close to the haircut that he had wanted and he is very upset. I am also very upset as we had expressed previously that we did not want her to "masculinize" his hair or cut it super short. My brother was confused as to why she was not listening to his requests and had even asked her how long she had been cutting hair, wondering if maybe she was a newer stylist and had just made a mistake, but she told him she had been cutting hair for over ten years. We were met with unprofessionalism, and we will no longer be returning to this place. if you are looking for a haircut as a guy that is not traditionally "masculine" do not go here. They will not respect your wishes, especially if you are younger. This lady took advantage of my brothers age to cut his hair however short she deemed was okay, after he expressed several times that is not what he wanted and that it was unsatisfactory. This was absolutely unacceptable, and her personal beliefs on how a mans hair should look should absolutely not interfere with how my brother wanted his hair to look. We were paying for a service that was absolutely not met, and he is now too ashamed to look at himself.

It takes alot for me to give a bad review on yelp, but this was the worst haircut I have ever gotten there. Phoenix was my stylist, wanted my hair long on top and gradually go short. For some reason they can never get it right, the right side is cut long to short but the left side they cut short to long. When I brought it to her attention she just cut it off, no blending so now I have a hole there. Ther are 3 spots on my head she did that to. Very hard to style my hair. If you're someone who just blow dry your hair, they are fine. But if you curl and style your hair they're the worst. My husband used to go there and they did the same thing to him, we bought a trimmer and it so easy to give a man a decent haircut. Well worth the money we spent on a clipper.

- 107 minute wait (I checked in online) - "Stylist" lacked any sense of how to cut women's hair, even when given a photo. Quick buzz with electric razor, no blending, never once touched scissors (required for blending) - Staff was more interested in socializing with other customers than taking care of waiting customers Will never go to this location again, and would advise others to only use if a man or a child. Women expecting more than a less-than-stellar barbershop experience should steer well clear. But - I paid for my services and still tipped generously. Skills aside, we're all still people working to make it through each day.
