Great Clips in Durant, OK

Visiting here in Durant and wanted a haircut and Great Clips was nearby. Alex cut my hair and I am very happy with it. Afterwards we got talking and had a great conversation. I'll be back.

I've been a long-time client of Great Clips and I've frequented the Durant location many times. Although the prices have gone up, $19 for a haircut, everything nowadays has had price increases, so I wasn't bothered by this. However, today, December 8, I was astounded at my experience. To begin with I walked in on my lunch break, and no one was in the waiting area. The two stylists were both with customers. One of the stylists welcomed me and I sat down. About five minutes later another person walked it and the same stylist welcomed her and went to sign her in; something that wasn't done for me. After about two minutes, she called her back. Now, in complete transparency the customer did say, "Shouldn't you take her, she was her before me." The stylist said the other lady will get her soon. Needless to say, I was irritated by this, but didn't say anything. After about three minutes the other stylist called me over. She was friendly enough. I told her I had to go back to work, it was my lunch hour, and asked if she'd make sure as much hair was off my face, ears, and neck as possible. She readily agreed. She completed my pixie cut (very short). I've always worn a pixie cut so it wasn't a new style or long hair. I asked her if she could blow dry it for me. She said, "No, if I do I have to charge you $30." Now, this is on top of the $19 for the haircut. $30 to blow dry a pixie cut. It would have taken her two minutes, tops, to dry my hair. I didn't ask her to add any products or use the flatiron or anything; simply blow dry it because I was going back to work, as I'd mentioned to her earlier. I know this is nitpicky, but she did soak my hair with water in order to cut it. I told her I've heard of places charging $3 or $5 to blow dry hair, but $30. Completely ridiculous. As a side note, during the holiday season as a way of giving back for the blessings we've had, my husband and I take a couple hundred dollars (in fifty-dollar bills) and give as a tip to those in the service industry. I was fully prepared to give her this $50 tip, but after she refused to spend two minutes drying my hair NO WAY! Now, I realize Great Clip's policy is probably not to blow dry hair because a blow dry can quickly turn into a style and clients do not want to pay it. But, come on, a two-minute run with the hair dryer for $30. As short as my hair is, just using the hair dryer to blow away the loose hair bits from the cut would have dried my hair. Since this policy is in effect 1) I wouldn't recommend Great Clips any longer and 2) perhaps it's just this Durant location, but I'd stay away at all costs. 1 STAR
