Fantastic Sams Cut & Color in Metairie, LA

I came to fantastic Sam's to get my hair trimm. when I left my hair was so uneven. I had to call them, and take time out of day the next day to go back and get it evened out  and of course the manager made an appointment for me, but someone else was passed ahead of me. do I had to wait for over an hour. this place is pitiful. not the first it happened to me. but it was on a Monday and only salon opened.

Up until I started shaving my head at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Fantastic Sams was my go-to spot for my haircuts.  Although Michelle was my regular stylist, I have also had my hair cut by Catelyn, Jamie, Iris, Kathy and Christine (no longer with the company).  All of them do a great job and are very nice and for $21.00, the price seems to be in line with other local establishments.

You do not need an appointment, which is always a good thing, as sometimes I like to do things spur of the moment.  Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, they served coffee and had lots of magazines to read.  That has all changed now as there is no coffee, no magazines to read, there is socially distanced seating for 4 near the door and every station has a protective "shower curtain" around each chair.  Furthermore, customers are required to wear masks inside; even while you are getting your hair "done".  It may seem like a lot, but these measures are to protect everyone and it allows them to remain open, serve their customers and make a living.

Although I shave my own head now, I still visit this location to bring my son to get his haircuts.  It's hit or miss as this place can get really busy, as there are a lot of regular customers; therefore, there's no particular time of day that's best to go unless you want to be there when the doors open in the A.M.

Although my hair stylist Claudia was amazing, talented, and knowledgeable.. management over charged me by adding on "hidden fees" and charging me for services I did not receive. Management was unkind and unresponsive when I questioned these charges. I feel sorry that Claudia has to work in a mediocre salon run by management that has poor customer service skills.

One of the best places for a haircut in Metairie. No appointments and great staff. I've been coming here for nearly 3 years now, and have yet to be disappointed. There really isn't much to complain about for a great haircut under $20. Light years under priced in comparison to actual salons. We all know the ridiculous prices those places charge.
