Fancy Nail Salon in Hamden, CT

I walked in and asked if they could do my nails how it looks in the picture. Sarah said they didn't have the charms, which is perfectly fine so I asked if she can just do black frenchies like in the picture. Sarah was nice. However, she seemed like she was rushing to do my nails. This led to her making a couple sloppy mistakes. I walked in and no one was there getting their nails done which should have been a red flag. The owner was too busy FaceTimjng in the parking lot. No one wants to work here. Two girls were on their phones who didn't jump up to ask what I wanted. I ended up staying and getting a regular manicure because all the surrounding places were jammed. The polish selection was terrible. I sat down and the girl pulled out a nasty used nail file out of her drawer. It was the quickest manicure and definitely one of the worst.

I had been coming here for 5 or so years and recently my friend had started coming also. My friend and I usually made appointments so we could get in and out and not waste our weekend day. The one time I didn't make an appointment because it was spur of the moment, because I always made an appointment I had not noticed they had a sign saying appointment only. Probably due to COVID?
So we go in, they ask us if we have an appointment, we say no. They sit us down, get our feet soaking, ask what we want for the treatment. This is around 1:00-1:15. At 1:30 a couple comes in, yes they had a 1:30 appointment. One of the girls comes over and says we will have to wait until 2:30 to get our feet done. Mind you at this point they have the callus remover on both of us and our feet wrapped and soaking. They seriously expected us to sit there with our feet in the water for an hour!! I was pissed!! The girl goes on to explain how we didn't have an appointment. Then why takej us, sit us down and get us prepped?? Of course we couldn't just waste an hour waiting!  We said no. The girl comes over, wipes the callus gel off, DOES NOT WASH THEM!  You know that stuff is slippery as hell!  Almost lost my footing putting my flip flops on. In the meantime they are so busy being rude to us that they have forgotten they have a tub filling with water. Water is everywhere. Where my friend was sitting, she couldn't get out because they pushed everything in front of her to clean up the flood. Never helped her get out. I had to go over and push everything out from in front of her so she could get out so we could leave.
The smell from the water going down the drain in the floor smelled like septic.
Chaos, rudeness and extremely unprofessional experience that day.
We will never return!  I would have been perfectly fine if we had walked in and they had pointed out the sign. I would have made an appointment, went and did my errands and came back.
My feeling is they were unsure of the 1:30 showing up so we were the back up. When the 1:30 showed, they then decided to stick with the appointment only rule! Well they have now lost 2 customers. They really never did a great job, was never consistent in how your nails would come out, most of the time I felt rushed, definitely had better but it's a convenient area and always easy to get in.
If you have a good experience  great. But if you are trying to find a new nail salon, don't waste your time, there are better out there!

I appreciate their Covid safety measures, and the manicure and pedicure offerings are good.  I've enjoyed service from a variety of technicians here over the past few years, and was never disappointed.  The staff is friendly, the place is clean and pleasant, and the services offered pretty comprehensive.  I'm a big fan of the callous pedicure, and paraffin manicure.  I'm a regular, and they kindly acknowledge that, but also respect my quiet time.
