Unprofessional, fraudulent advertising of services by Andrea Millhouse, completely did not offer the services I requested. After following up with a real braiding professional it was clear this stylist Andrea did not know the technique of the style I requested and instead of admitting it threw together plaits on my head and attempted to crochet hair through them, hair started falling apart within minutes of leaving salon.  BEWARE OF THIS STYLIST SHE IS A FRAUD AND WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY!!!!! Never have I ever dealt with a fraudulent stylist. JUST BE HONEST ABOUT WHAT YOU CAN AND CANNOT DO INSTEAD OF TRYING TO GET QUICK BILL MONEY WHILE DECEIVING THE PUBLIC. Unprofessional rude and verbally attacked me when I contacted her a minute after I left the salon.  BEWARE

Alaina Hamner is who you should contact for all of your hair needs! She does a great job in a reasonable amount of time while also making you feel at home. She does have a website and you can search it on Schedulicity by looking up HairbyLaina. On the site there are prices and the average hair styling and needs time. There is also a barber shop inside and the owner is a barber himself, and seems to really care about his customers and Alain's customers too. If you need anything hair wise come to Face Barber and Beauty Salon!!

Nice place friendly staff , just like home trash talking but they he the job done! Reasonable price for a cut and they do great work! When I'm in Birmingham I'll come back here every time !

After not visiting an official barber shop in easily over 15 years, having shaved my head conpletely bald for much of that time and *short-buzzed* or *wild growth'd* it for the rest, I finally found the need to concede and join the world of "not-so-unkempt" hair styles and appearances.  I had no clue where to turn as far as finding a good barber was concerned, so I turned to Yelp last minute to try to at least narrow down my potential options.  I ran across a sole review for Faces Barber Shop (a brief, though positive, one) and, without any basis for comparison and no leads on any other place to try, I decided to give it a chance.  And jackpot.  Faces is very much old school and brought back memories of when I was a young, fidgety teen that couldn't sit still in the chair to save his life - the large variety of clippers sets on the counter behind each chair; the 3-second agony that was the burn from the spray used after getting a razor edge-up; the smell of talcum powder from the brush used to finish up the cut, right before you get up from the chair; all there, and all surprisingly nostalgic.  I think Faces shares its space as a barbershop *and* beauty salon, but that separation is very distinct and nothing's lost on the shop side.  The shop overall is clean and spacious, the location is extremely easy to find, and the clientele included a healthy mix of both young and older women and men.

The owner of the shop and the guy that made me look less like a Sasquatch, Maury, has been cutting hair for over 35 years (i.e., "longer than you've been alive" i was told - lol), and it very much shows.  He's almost obsessively detailed, making sure to get the cut as perfect as humanly possible.  (He even admitted that himself.)  I was probably in the chair for a little over half an hour (I needed some serious work done), and when he showed me the final product for my thoughts, that attention to detail really showed.  From a personal standpoint, his customers seem to love his work, and everyone that came in and out of the shop - some customers, some inquiring about service - he treated with a noticeable deal of respect and attentiveness.  There was plenty left over, though, for some football trash-talking as well (I went during the Iron Bowl), so don't get the impression you're getting a haircut at a funeral parlor - lol.  Bottom line, the quality of the work I received, and the overall customer service I received and witnessed, were spot-on.

So, if you're in the market for a good haircut in a great old school atmosphere, you should really give Faces some serious consideration.  I'll definitely be going back as soon as the disheveled look drops again.  There's only so much a man can do to his own hair with a clippers set, two mirrors, and positive thinking... :P

Absolutely the best black barber shop I've been to. I just moved to town and the barbers here really know what they are doing. Prices are reasonable, laid back environment. 5 stars easy.
