Dodd Salon in Oklahoma City, OK

I received a call from one of the owners canceling my appointment with just one hour notice. They said they would call back to reschedule and never did. As a lawyer who works by the billable hour, that was a very expensive last minute cancellation notice for me. Very disappointed.

After much consideration - and after consulting with two different Dallas area salons that specialize in the same services - I have decided I have no choice but to write this poor review of the Dodd Salon, its subpar workmanship, and its exorbitant prices.

I went to the Dodd Salon twice: once to have my extensions installed, and then again to have the extensions moved up and re-dyed. My first trip, my "extensionist" Mia, attempted and failed to dye and install tape-in extensions to the sides to add volume, so she opted with small wefts, instead. On my second trip, Mia removed the original wefts and attempted dark rooted tape-in extensions which did not take dye the same as the rest of the extensions, leaving my color uneven. On both occasions, I had informed Mia that my job requires that I wear my hair up from time to time, so tape-in extensions should not be used - they are not conducive to hair being pulled back. Evidently, Mia chose to ignore me.

This was the start of my problems.

For a week after the extensions were re-installed, I was constantly having migraines, leaving me unable to sleep. When I inspected the extensions, not only did I discover the tape-ins I had specifically requested not be used, but I also discovered the tape-ins were installed crooked - exposed tape was constantly pulling on my hair and scalp. Once I removed the tape-ins, I found that the sew-in wefts had been installed in straight, parallel lines - as opposed to a more natural U shape that followed the contour of my head - which resulted in a lumpy, unnatural, and very distinct "mullet" appearance in back. The top wefts were lopsided by at least an inch; and the side wefts - which had been placed directly behind my ears and edged up against my hairline - stuck out noticeably and interfered with my being able to wear my glasses when I did attempt to wear my hair down.

To add insult to injury, I paid as much for the extensions - and their removal and their re-installation with the tape-ins I had specifically asked not be used - at the smaller Dodd Salon located in Oklahoma City as I would have had I gotten the service at a bigger, more prestigious hair salon in Dallas, if not more.

I have consulted with other former patrons who had similar stories of bad quality and poor workmanship, as well as stories of being ridiculed for asking that the sloppy work be rectified and not receiving refunds or a complimentary service for their troubles. For that reason, I have to decided to not pursue reimbursement, but I will be telling everyone around me who will listen to avoid the Dodd Salon. They are not worth your time and they are certainly not worth your money.

TJ Elias does my hair an he is honestly doing God's work here on earth. He slays my hair EVERY time. 10/10 on a scale of perfection. I'd take a bullet for him.
