I've been coming to SaLune since I relocated to upstate NY from Los Angeles two years ago...I never thought I'd find anybody I would like as much personally or professionally but I from the first phone call I stood corrected. The atmosphere at Salune is nurturing, open, and honest... the stylists there all display a high degree of skill, each with a wonderful, specific approach but with the overarching goal of having clients look their natural best. Whenever I visit SaLune, I'm always so excited to see all the different kinds of hair, color, and cuts, surrounding me..it's like being part of a beautiful garden and the stylists are the horticulturalists! I have had the pleasure of getting to know and learn so much from Elana.. today she toned the portions of my hair I'm trying to match to my natural, emerging silver a wonderful shade. Elana is patient, nurturing, kind, and a great listener...coupled with her creativity, amazing sense of style and above all, her gorgeous cuts and color.. she's a wonderful asset to this marvelous salon.

I have a long time colorist in the city, but don't really have a similar relationship with a stylist. I have gone through different hair stylists through the years, but always ended up not really getting what I wanted or getting what I thought I wanted but it was totally wrong for me! Didn't know if a stylist existed that would listen, not humor me, and give me honest, expert advice that results in the perfect cut. Luckily I found Danielle through her Instagram. Right off the bat I liked her easy going stylish vibe. Her industry pedigree confirmed she has the chops to do great hair. I was sold - booked my appointment- and made the plunge. Meeting Danielle was everything I expected. She has a quiet cool and you instantly feel comfortable and secure that she knows just what you want. The result - an excellent cut. Stylish, easy, and exactly the look for me. She nailed it! Since leaving her salon, it's been one compliment after another which is a great testament to her talent. Thank you SaLune Salon. I've been looking for a hair salon like this for ages. My hair is atypical for an Asian woman. It's naturally wavy and thick. I've been looking for a stylist who has the skills to manage the texture of my hair and is creative enough to cut hair working with the structure of my face. I like edgier styles with sharp layers and long side swept bangs to frame my face which I find works best. I wanted a hairstyle that I can wear down or up in a ponytail. I also hate high maintenance hairstyles as I never blow out my hair and just want to get up in the morning and not have to style my hair so much. At the same time I wanted a haircut that has shape and style to it on it's own. A tall order I know. It took me years to find my last hairstylist in the city but then I moved upstate and I couldn't find the right hairstylist who understood what I wanted and what would work best for my hair texture and facial structure. I've always been open to new hairstyles and like taking suggestions from a stylist I trust. I just couldn't find the right one and I tried a number of times. I finally found Danielle at SaLune in Hudson and I'm sooo happy with my new haircut. I showed her a picture of something I thought would work for me and she nailed it! Having a picture as a reference is the easiest way I can communicate what I want. Danielle looked at the photo once, worked with the natural wave of my hair and gave me a cut that I absolutely love. I love that SaLune uses a dry cutting method because you can see exactly how much hair is coming off and see how that style is taking shape every step of the way. I got a lot of hair taken off and i can tell already that as my hair grows it will keep looking good for a while because of the way she cut my hair. I love that this salon doesn't produce cookie cutter hairstyles and works with you to give you the cut that works for your face and hair texture. I highly recommend Danielle and SaLune!

An all-around disappointing experience (blowout- $57). Back in March, I found SaLune online and made an afternoon appointment (with a master stylist) for a Saturday in mid May. The salon was around the corner from where I was going to be staying, and because of wedding season, I wanted to be early with my appointment to get the time slot I wished to have. Less than a week before my appointment I received a call from the salon, telling me that their website shouldn't have given me the option to book an appointment - as the stylist I booked was not available at that time - however, I could see her much earlier in the day, at 1pm. Surprised to get a call like that I explained that I'm not a 'regular'; I didn't know ANY of the stylists; 1pm was not going to work, as the wedding I was attending was at 6:30, and I needed my 4pm. The woman on the phone seemed short and aggravated at first, but understanding enough to switch me to a different stylist. I arrived promptly at 4, and was greeted by an apathetic individual who completely managed to set a cold, unwelcoming vibe - making me regret I had come across this place. There seemed to be an uncomfortable "hush-hush" whispering issue regarding clients vs stylists ratio, and I was asked to sit and wait. I felt awkward, as if I had done something wrong... (Look, I get that we all have bad days, but in the short interaction I had with her, her sour expression was a bit much and I was on the receiving end). Saving grace (almost 20 minutes later) was Kristan (styling assistant), with a sunny disposition, a warm smile, who totally sensed me being 'off', and wanted to make it better. My blowout was fine - as in: it's something I manage on my own every time I wash my hair. Turns out, I was handed to a junior stylist - she was a lovely young lady, who was v e r y gentle. Unfortunately, with every step I took walking back to my place the hair kept getting limper, and by 7pm, my hair had no life. I'm unsure how much they charge for a blowout by a master stylist, but I paid $57 + 2 separate tips. It's more than I have ever spent in NYC. I'm giving Kristan 5 stars - she deserves it. Also, the salon is bright and clean - well done.

I am so happy there is one person in the world that can tame my wild woman hair, and that we work in the same town at the same time. Lune is amazing with hair design and worth her weight in gold.
