Chez Madeleine European Hairstyling in Virginia Beach, VA

I waited approx 2 weeks for an appt. and was told a consultation. It's a nice salon and the staff were polite and welcoming. I wasn't quite sure of the consultation but thought a few minutes discussing my hair ie style, cut, thickness etc before getting my haircut. However that didn't happen. I was seen as scheduled, the owner asked what I was looking for as far as style, likes and dislikes. He ran his fingers through my hair and said; ok you need to schedule an appt. I was a bit dumbfounded. He told the receptionist to schedule me and on my way out I just told her I won't be scheduling. I needed my hair cut today for an engagement I had this afternoon. This was a waste of time. Now I'm left with the same mess on top I walked in with. Why would someone waste their time waiting weeks to be seen and then again weeks for the actual cut? I'm moving on.

I moved to VB about 18 months ago & REALLY missed my previous hairstylist I'd had for over 20 years, especially when each successive new place I tried did such subpar work on my hair. About 3 months ago I saw a woman in a store with beautiful hair, highlights that I loved, so I asked where she got her hair done, she said Chez Madeleine. I called to make an appointment & was given Wendy. When I arrived for my appointment the receptionist was very welcoming & told me Wendy was just finishing up so I looked around a bit, my first impression was that it was very clean & classy. About 5 minutes later Wendy greeted me & walked me to her station. She was very engaging & took about 15 min. listening to my hair issues & what I wanted, then she went to work coloring & giving me a trim. She did an awesome job with my bangs, no one since my old stylist had been able to get them right, the color was perfect & the blowout was fabulous (my thick curly hair was straight with nice body!)! I haven't left the salon feeling that great since I moved here! I've gone once since that first visit for just a root touch-up with the same great results, the next time I'll be getting highlights but I feel confident that they'll turn out just as beautiful as I expect. I have curly hair with frizz in the humidity & she explained about the keratin treatments they do so I may be scheduling that with her soon since the weather has turned hot & humid. I'm sorry that one of the other reviewers had such a bad experience with Wendy but that was not at all my experience, she didn't rush & did an excellent job, was very meticulous & attentive to details... I believe I've found my salon & stylist!

Just went here for the first time and I honestly can't understand why there are such negative reviews on here. The receptionist recommended that I see Wendy to get a trim on my short haircut. I was greeted by Wendy when I first walked in and all of the stylists there seemed extremely nice. Wendy took her time and really listened to me when I told her I only wanted a light trim because I was trying to grow my hair out. Super stoked with this salon and will definitely be returning!!

I have been coming to Wendy for a year and a half and handed her a coloring challenge each time, each of which she has mastered. I trust no one else with my curls. She is amazing!

I have been going to Chez Madeleine for over 8 years and up until this visit I would have rated my experience there a 5. I used to have a great stylist who always made sure my hair looked great and I felt great about it. I never had an issues at all. He moved to NY and on my last visit I had to see a new stylist. I was reccomended to have Wendy as my stylist by the receptionist. Wendy is the worst stylist I have ever been to. Chez Madeleine is an upscale salon and the color job I received could have been better by a stylist in training. Wendy is an AWFUL stylist. NEVER make an appointment with her. It took over 6 hours to get out of the salon because she messed up my hair and someone else had to fix it. I was then charged for her to fix it. My stylist that moved to NY had written out exactly what he normally does to my hair so Wendy should have had a really easy time following it but she is an awful stylist who does not know what she is doing. This is a warning to never go to Wendy because she will mess up your hair. Go to Hair Cuttery I promise they will do a better job than Wendy.
