Stiletto Hair Studio in Virginia Beach, VA

I don't do bad reviews ever because I know people have their days but I've been coming to this salon sporadically for years and have had great experiences until my last two visits. I was excited to be squeezed into an appointment for a full balayage, root smudge, and a cut only to leave wishing I didn't. Samantha was my stylist, she was super nice, seemed to listen to the vision in place with my hair, but was very vocal on how new she was. Once the session was done I was excited to go about my day but noticed something looked off with my hair whenever I caught it in the light or turned. My husband kept telling me it looked like I had a spot in my hair so when I got to good lighting I noticed my roots were horrendously chunky and the blonde was hard lined. I called next day and spoke with the front desk about the mishap and if I can come in to get it fixed which I was placed on hold for a long while to wait for Samantha to come to the phone. Sydney, the manager, called me back to book a fix and admitted that she spoke with Samantha and that she just forgot to do a root smudge and that I can come in to get that fixed. I came in for my hair fix and was informed I was going to need to spend $40 for the root smudge because I never paid for it last time even though I had paid what I was quoted for the service upon booking. I should've left right then and there and asked for my money back but I was traveling for an event this weekend and needed my hair fixed. Samantha didn't hold back from informing me that the office had asked her if she had done these services before and she said no but they just verbally told her how, the day before this visit was her first day ever doing a root smudge and that she had spent 5 hours with the client because she had messed it up originally, proceeded to complain that the woman never even tipped her, and followed it with "but I think she was Mexican and I don't think they tip like that in Mexico". I was honestly just shocked. How are you going to admit you are bad at your job, have unrealistic expectations to be tipped, AND be racist. It felt so out of left field and she just talked to me as if I should understand what that is like. After the "fix" I went home to STILL find uneven tones/chunks in my hair and honestly just cried. I'm not understanding how this was just unnoticed 2x when the stylist is standing over my head and then to also charge me for a fix and make it sound like it was my fault overall because "I didn't add it" to my previous visit when it was requested twice. No. Unfortunately, I had to drive out to Chicago for a big family event and have a session booked out here to fix my hair before the event but now I will have paid 2x the money just to potentially go back to the brown hair I had before. I gave two stars because I've been coming here for so long. They've had amazing stylists in the past but this experience really just has me looking for a new salon in the area for the future.

I liked this place. I had a haircut with Raven. It was mainly a routine type of haircut and to kind of help give me a better layering more suited to my work (keep all hair off face). The hair cut turned out nice, good layering and even. I'd go back!

I was very nervous at first because I've had some horrible experiences because not everyone cuts curly hair well. After speaking with Krystal on what my intentions were, she went to work and I quickly felt like my hair was in good hands. She took her time and made sure it was exactly what I wanted. I also got highlights and was pleased with how they turned out. I loved the whole vibe of the salon. It's chic and trendy looking. I really loved how Krystal took care of me and look forward to going back to her for my future hair adventures.

I have been coming here for several years now to see Sydney, who is a knowledgeable, talented, and personable stylist/hair artist. She truly takes time to understand her clients' goals, presents options accordingly, discusses the process and provides excellent education about hair care and styling. She took me from years of at-home jet black box dye to a beautiful multi-dimensional garnet red and introduced me to Bellami sew-in extensions, which I will never go without but, if I did, the actual health of my natural hair and length has improved dramatically - the extensions have not damaged my hair at all! The stylists and administrative staff are welcoming and professional, and I have an excellent experience each time. I would recommend Stiletto to anyone looking for a personalized, client-oriented experience and beautiful results!
