The haggis was really good. In fact, I would say it was delicious. The fish and chips was inedible. The fish was completely mushy. My guess is that it was the victim of improper freezing and thawing. Just awful. Like biting into flavorless damp cotton mixed with snot. I also have a sneaking suspicion it was tilapia or catfish. Fries were limp. It always amazes me when places that base so much of their menu around fries don't realize you have to fry them TWICE to get a crisp product. The restaurant seemed partially finished. I wasn't even sure they were open, it had such a rough around the edges look. The people who own it seem friendly, but the food was seriously bad. Except the haggis. Which was, shockingly, delicious.

This place doesn't make sense. I don't know how long they've been open but it doesn't look very long. It looks unfinished and a little unorganized. But according to the time the other reviews were made this must be the " finished" product. The food was alright but nothing out of this world. I tried the club sandwich and it was good, but I didn't like the olive mayo at all. The bread and bacon were by far the best part of the sandwich. The soup was alright but again nothing I would feel the need to go back for again. All in all I don't see myself coming back, but who knows.

Four stars simply because of the chips and chicken curry. Wow. You'll be licking your lips for days. The service structure and hours, and the vibe are--confused. They'll give you water and tea, but insist you traipse across the dining room to get your own coffee..... cuz they're so busy? ;-) Rush over and order the curry over piping hot chips!

Scottish Chicken Curry is real good. We went during Taste of 48th neighborhood festival and we were treated to Scottish Dancers. Kids menu is decent. Daughter had Grilled Cheese and fries and was very tasty. We will return.

I avoid restaurants that have an affinity for cheap soybean oil due to allergy. Restaurants that use soy typically are not driven to provide quality food for customers. So it was a pleasure to learn L'Ecosse uses canola oil. Ordered fish and chips at lunch. Entree was about $8 + soda. Fries were very hot and good. Could have used a little less salt. Fish was hot and fresh though a little bland. Was offered tartar sauce but it was made with mayo (i.e. soybean oil). Service was good is not exactly warm. It seems a new gal was being trained and her boss was very short with me. Will head back to L'Ecosse soon to give them another try. On first experience restaurant gets three stars. If service and meal bump up a little then I'll will raise review to 4 stars.
