(limited detail due to char. limits)I was desperate to find a local braiding stylist. Booked with Q for my upcoming vacation and disappointed is an understatement. My hair looks terrible and my vacation is already ruined.
I requested 1b and 27 at the bottom. I not only added this to the booking but texted about it prior to booking to get the ok. My appointment was 5pm on 04/21/2023.
First, Q was late. no big deal things happen.
when I arrived I see her separating brown ombre hair. I reminded her of the colors that I booked and how I wanted the color to look. she shows me the 1b and 27 to confirm and begins.
A few rows/hrs in, I I see the color is completely mixed and I tell her I don't like it at all. It wasn't what I requested and then I ask if we can complete the rest in just 1b(hoping it would cover). Q agrees and then around 8pm tells me that because she had already separated the 1b and 27 hair she won't have time to finish. she requests that I return the following day.  Q also stated she needed to leave by 10:30 pm. I was previously advised the braids would take 7-8 hrs(I asked before booking for scheduling purposes). Initially I asked what time and how long. She said I could come in @ 2 and it would take 2.5 hours. CLARIFICATION: this is just to finish braiding. Q made no attempt to resolve the incorrect color. Well then I declined...I genuinely have no time and being able to get away to have my hair braided for hours is not something that I can do often but also, I shouldn't have to walk around with incomplete hair when I paid for a service and should've received what I paid for. The math also didn't add up to book a 5pm appointment and then tell the client you can only braid until 10:30pm, roughly only 5 hours. The additional 2.5hrs she wanted me to return for would've been on par with the time I was initially quoted. She continues to braid and "finished" roughly around 11:30pm. My hair is extremely wet and I'm very annoyed by how this color looks so I'm ready to pay and go. Q asks to take a picture and I leave right after. very upset but I chalked it up as I should've just never asked for color and I should've chosen a more reputable company with more reviews. I put the braids in a bun and head home. Next day my hair is still wet and I don't know how to conceal the mixed braids so I leave it in the bun. Sunday morning I get up to try to figure out how I can hide the braids that were not what I asked for and I notice Q did not finish braiding! Not only that but some of the braids clearly have KNOTS and I could feel a lot of tension. Not ok because Knots and tension create hair loss. The braids are also NOT small, the size I booked and paid $305 for. I was supposed to get waist length and the braids stop around my collar bone. The ends are raggedy and frizzy as if they're months old of unkept braids. I immediately reach out via text with pictures and request a refund. Shavonne replied telling me she was the shop owner and asked if my hair looked "this way" when I returned the next day to retrieve my water cup. Not sure what she was insinuating but I explained everything that had transpired and how I could've lived with the color mishap but NOT the incomplete braids because Q needed to rush for whatever the reason. Shavonne ultimately replied and advised that I could return the following weekend to have the "ends rebraided" and that Q would be doing same. Well I didn't have the time and again, I paid to receive that service on 04/21/2023 and with that payment I had a reasonable expectation to receive the service I booked. My refund was declined and when I responded to Shavonne and asked her if I would be out of over $300 because of my work and family schedule, she just stopped responding. Very poor service, business etiquette and Just down right taking advantage of people. Sad. attached pictures include the service I booked, the color flow I asked for and what I actually received. Long post but hopefully it will save someone hundreds of dollars, the damage and embarrassment of having to look a terrible hot mess.
