202 Beauty Lounge in Waco, TX

Someone had recommended Isabel for a cut and blow dry.. she is darling, seems to be very knowledgeable and I do like her technique of cutting! She listens, suggests ideas, without pressure! I had called for a second visit and asked if Isabel had anything open; and I told the receptionist that I was going out of town,at, the last minute that coming Sunday, and knew it was a short week because of Memorial Day, but if Isabel had anything open I'd appreciate it! Was told to come Friday at 1:15.. said great, I'll be there! Was told when I got there that my appmnt was for the following Friday! I understand things happen, I get it.. been in sales most of my life.. appmnts are your business! I said that I would come back, receptionist said Isabel could do a bang trim if that would help! Said it would help, so Isabel took me back, washed my hair then trimmed my bangs, blew it dry.. was there not even 10-15 mins.. which I appreciated her time! Went back to the receptionist and she tells me that it will be $65!! For a bang trim!? Isabel didn't have time to in-depth cut my hair.. she only touched my bangs! I was taken aback and because there were so many customers waiting in that tiny area up front, I didn't argue about it! I should have! My fault there! But $65 for just my bangs cut? Wow! If that's their policy, I get that, but the customer needs to be told that bang trims are not complementary! I don't object to paying for my bang trim, but that's a little " over kill", for less that 15 mins maybe 10! I will go back to Isabel, she is the best I've found since moving here 6 yrs ago.. I just won't go back for a bang trim! Hence the 4 stars!

I'm very sad to write this review. I went into this Salon on May 19, 2022 at 1:00 pm, for a free consultation. I had asked for Amara, because I saw some reviews about her talent with long, thick & wavy hair. The girl at the front reception, was super nice. Amara came to get me & I explained that I'm Deaf/Hoh but I can read lips & I can speak. I just need her to look at me when she speaks. I told her that I have a nerve illness (CRPS) & that the color has been burning my head a little bit & recently. Amara suggested that I get my color done at a different salon. But I could go to 202 salon, and she could cut it. I don't want to go to 2 different salons. So, I asked her to do a test piece, to see if their color burned my scalp. (I had to think of that idea on my own & I had to ask her to do it). She did It & did not burn. I made an appointment & decided not to cut my hair at this time, but to try having Amara color my Roots every 4 weeks or so. I 1st had made an appointment only for a haircut. I was going to do a haircut but cancelled that, with a week notice. I emailed to cancel that haircut & rescheduled for a root touch up instead, 1st week June or so. They did cancel but nobody ever responded to make a root touch up appointment for me. So I contacted Amara at Instagram. I told her I want to only do my root touch ups for now. I wanted to come in around June 7,8 or 10th. When she responded, she was very short & just said "she was either off or booked during that time". I thought it was odd that she offered no other options! I wrote back & said I would like a root touch only but was there any other dates open? She had written "haircut and grey coverage" so I just told her I was holding off on the cut for now. It's been many days -almost a week, & she has never written back to me. I feel like she is being unkind either because I'm Deaf/hoh & she doesn't want to work with me because of that & because my scalp had burned after a formula change at another salon. But we did a test piece & I was fine. I'm just very disappointed that I'm being treated this way! She doesn't want to do my hair, but why? I was very nice and I thought of the idea to do test a piece. I mean it's ridiculous to go to 2 different salons. I must say that the first day, at the consultation, I felt rushed, not cared about & I had to think of a solution on my own. She wouldn't even try. But I tried not to worry about the small stuff. I wanted to try that salon & her because of the reviews about her with my kind of hair. I'm very disappointed in the treatment I received from her at this salon 202 in Waco, Texas. What is wrong here, that Amara wasn't even willing to go out of her way at all to be accommodating. She never even responded & I was very very kind to her.

Amara is AMAZING. She was super careful to make sure we both were on the same page about what I wanted done and she was so clear on setting expectations for what was achievable in our session. She absolutely accomplished what I wanted for my Balayage and it turned out better than I hoped. She is super attentive and so focused on her work. She made great suggestions for layers on my thinner texture so it holds a curl better and add dimension to my flat hair. I am so happy with my results and can't wait for my next appointment!

I would highly recommend 202 Beauty Lounge. It's a very cute salon, close to the silos and very easy to get to. I drove up from Killeen and I will go ahead and tell you, it was worth the drive!! I had a cut & balayage appointment with Amara and it was wonderful. She provided a thorough consult as to what my goals were and what was achievable so that I would know what to expect. I had all over brown hair color and wanted to have ashy blonde tones. Not only is Amara very easy to talk to, but she is excellent at communicating what she is doing throughout the entire process. I am fairly familiar with the steps being taken during the color process but she explains why she is doing something a certain way, the products she is using and also great about answering questions. Balayage is not a quick process that can be done in an hour, so you are going to be sitting a while and knowing why is helpful :). You can tell she knows her stuff & is a master of her craft. I was very pleased with my results and can't wait for my next appointment. Thanks, Amara!!
