1 on 1 Self Indulgence Spa in Acton, MA

My first visit here was great. I came for a therapeutic massage with Diane. I just wanted to say that Diane gave me an incredible deep tissue massage that transformed my back and neck. She's a pro.

When I moved up to the area I had to find a new massage therapist for regular body work. I had passed by here a number of times in my running around and finally decided to book an appointment. Melissa has become my go to for regular massages as she ACTUALLY massages my muscles and doesn't do a fluff and buff. I also love that we can adjust on the fly if my muscles need hot stones and or something else and it doesn't cramp her style at all. Totally recommend getting a 90 minute massage of any flavor. I also have scarred, acne prone skin on my face and Jillian has become my savior for it. Not pushy at all but when I asked her for products to try she was very well informed on what they have and she knows my skin type like the back of her hand. I just book where she decides what facial my skin is questing for that day and I have not regretted it. Every two weeks like clockwork. And by the way, in case you're curious, those HydroFacials will change your life. I also have had Jillian and Chelsea do my eyebrows. They come out great and the style of wax they use, my skin doesn't freak out. Everyone here is well trained, and personable. Definitely recommend.

The owner of this place is one of the rudest business people I have ever encountered. Sales tactics are high pressure and I find the salon very dirty.

I have been driving by 1 on 1 Self Indulgence Spa for a while now and I thought that it looked inviting. I stopped one day and had a brow wax. It looked really nice and I decided that I would go and treat myself to a Spa day. I just got home and I have to say that it was one of the best Spa's that I have ever been to. I am so relaxed!!! I chose a Hydro tub soak, a Body Butter wrap, a Body Glow, a facial and a Body massage. My day was wonderful!!! I loved every treatment!!! All of the staff were professional, kind and helpful!!! They offer many services that I have not seen in other Spa's. It was a calm and peaceful place which I loved!!! There was also a room to go in and relax between treatments or after treatments to have a cup of tea and a home made scone. It was wonderful!!! I can tell you now that I definitely will be going back!!! I also can say that I felt that the prices were very reasonable!!! I am baffled by the fantastic reviews of this place. My experience was not great, and after we left, we found we'd been charged for something we thought had been a gift! My friend and I have travelled far and wide for good spa days. But this year for my birthday, we couldn't really get too far, so we decided to try the "new" (a few years) location of a place my friend had gotten a great facial. So first, you go into this old house, and there are stairs right in front of you, but you go sharp left to check in. They checked us in (super nice!) and took us upstairs to change. The "locker room" was the upstairs hallway of the house. You actually had to go into the bathroom to change. My locker number was on the floor, and the lock stuck so badly I had to get help. So we each changed and locked up our stuff, and went into the waiting area, which is kind of weird, with wicker furniture. We got the "hydrotherapy tub" treatment, which was just a big bathtub that they let you use for twenty minutes. The attendant asked us if we wanted drinks, and we asked for waters. She put them on a wooden tray over the tub, told us she would be back in twenty minutes and left. We got into the tub and immediately the wooden tray spilled over. Happily we hadn't gotten juice. The tub was lukewarm at best, but I know how to work a bathtub so I fixed that. There was a nice shower in the room but we were not invited to use it. Twenty minutes later, we got out and waited for our services. My friend said her facial was great, but I had one of the worse massages of my life. The masseuse kept returning to the nape of my neck where she would dig her fingers in a way that was really uncomfortable. And she kept doing it. Every time, I figured it would be the last, and finally asked her not to after the fifth or sixth time she returned to that spot!!! After our services, they made us scones which was nice. As we were checking out, the woman told us we could have either some incense or a candle from their shop. How nice! We each picked a candle and thanked her for her kindness. Except when my friend got her credit card statement, she noticed that the total was slightly more than she expected. She looked back at the receipt and did the math - she had been charged for the candles! In person, the people here were very nice, but buyer beware. If you are used to high class spas like G20, Burke Williams, or Sense, you will be very disappointed.
