#1 Nails Salon in Galesburg, IL

I went in for a pedicure. I'm a licensed manicurist in another state so I know what a pedicure should be. I came in about 15 minutes prior to their closing and explained that I didn't know they were about to close. BUT they assured me that it was no problem to take me and that we should sit down put our feet in and they would get right to us. The water was way too hot. First a woman started my service then 2 minutes later she stood and says this man is going to do my pedicure instead because she needed to do a wax, she then left the building. New guy steps in and as he is sitting down he made a very loud and sarcastic sexual comment that all in the store could hear "Oh, you have a sexy toe nail"(In his thick accent). He barely did a 15 minute service that I would classify as a toe nail trim and foot wash and polish. Instead of a foot and calf massage that they should be trained to do (by the state board of cosmetologists) he rubs his hand up and down my shins repeatedly very hard until the point I knew he was bruising me. Several times during my service, it was obvious, that he was talking, in his language, to his co worker next to him working on my friend about the condition of my feet. Then he asked me if I walk bare footed outside a lot. I told him "No, I don't" but I have had my thyroid removed which causes the feet to be extra dry. This is something that I have struggled with and I usually do my own pedicures because I feel self conscious about my feet as is. My friend told him I was traveling and had come a long way and chose this salon to come to he replied with "lucky me" and rolled his eyes. I found them to be disrespectful and plain rude. If I hadn't been with my friend I would have walked out before we barely got started. They are supposed to be in the business of pampering and making people feel good. Instead I left there feeling terrible and embarrassed in front of my friend. If they felt they didn't have time to do my service they should have said so in the first place. I felt that the so called service was a waste of my time and money. I certainly don't get paid that much for 15 minutes of whatever it was they did and call a pedicure. Poor business practices and lack of work ethic will prevent me from returning to this place ever again. 1 star rating too generous for this but can't give less. :(

I was just in the 'Burg over Christmas and went here to get a pedicure with my sister.. 2 weeks later, it still looks fantastic! I've been to #1 nails many times and they are always very busy, but never disappoint. There are very good about shuffling the nail techs around so everyone is taken care of. They even have comfy seating area while you or your ride wait. Special bonus: A little fiesty Chihuahua acts as their fearless, boisterous mascott, but never leaves its bed. Check out #1 nails. You won't be disappointed!
