Zunis Salon & Spa in Lincolnwood, IL

Well, I saw a new business in Lincolnwood called Zuni's Hair Salon & Spa. I didn't know what to expect as I tried a few different places and they didn't seem to do the simple style that I wanted. I had an appt. with RUBA and she said, please give me a chance, so I did. I had an appt. today for 10:30 am and thought I would give this place a try. Ruba did a marvelous job on touch up. She superceded my thoughts and even went the extra mile for me which I genuinely appreciated her gift of hair dressing. She cut my hair nicely and styled it. I asked if First Time people get any kind of discount and she said no. I did see that they gave 20% off in 2019, but not sure if that was a limited time or not. I liked what Ruba did, so I decided to stay with her since she understood what I needed. I have been ripped off at other salons where they charge double and I thought this salon had fair prices. I gave her a nice tip as well. Thank you Ruba for being so nice, thoughtful, and great at what you do. See you in six weeks! Kathy from Skokie.

Needed a quick trim and hastily looked for salons in the area. The Yelp offer for first-time clients drew me in (20% off) and so I called to see if they had any openings. I was quoted $35 on the phone, and was told that would cover the cut plus wash and style. I got my hair shampooed and cut in about 30 minutes. The stylist blow-dried my hair a little, and wrapped up the session with my hair still partially wet. I found this very odd, but I was in a rush so I followed her to the front to pay up. The stylist then tried to charge me $10 more because my hair was long and thick. That kind of info should've been shared when I first called to inquire. Because I was busy and out the rest of the day, I didn't really get a chance to examine my haircut until the following morning. I will spare you the details and the photos. I was in complete and utter shock by what the stylist had done. I called the salon right away to explain what happened, and was told a manager would reach back out. They offered to fix it and I obliged. Coming back to get my hair fixed was already an inconvenience because I had a packed schedule. A different stylist tried to salvage my hair, but the damage was done and some parts I just have to grow out. I originally wanted 2 inches off, but after everything, they ended up cutting off more than double. Having worked in customer service before, I expected the staff to be a little more sympathetic and apologetic. I was very unsatisfied by how the situation was handled.

I came in not knowing what to expect. My stylist of three years had moved out of state and recommended this place to me. It's conveniently located in the heart of Lincolnwood and easy to find parking. I was pleased with the overall experience. I got my hair trimmed and styled for an event I had going on later that day. I will for sure be coming back for my color touch up.

I was a little skeptical trusting my hair to new stylists, I have seen firsthand how much damage an inexperienced colorist can cause to otherwise healthy hair. The stylists are kind and knowledgeable about the science of hair coloring. They walk you step by step through the color process and make personalized recommendations based off your hair type. I highly recommend the stylists for your hair coloring needs. The salon is small but inviting and is located inside of a small plaza. There is a free parking lot next to the salon but it can get packed on weekdays after school.
