Wow what an improvement since Golden Tans became Sun Tan City! Very professional improvement. When I went last year as the former business, folks were not trained in how to complete customer transactions such as giving a copy of a contract to a customer. Maria greeted me warmly and gave me suggestions and even saved me a little bit of money. She took time to explain all the options and was friendly and polite. Looking forward to my next visit. So now Sun Tan City has been bought out by Zoom Tan. They only offer the stand up tanning. I prefer beds. The tanning is way too hot even with the over head fan. The new hours are HORRIBLE. They seem to be looking to monopolize the tanning industry in Rochester so I guess they can do whatever they want. If I do another membership I'll definitely look around for a better place.
Excellent experience. Went in for the free spray tan on New Year's Eve day last minute and the girl working was so wonderful. She took me through all the steps and was totally helpful, as it was my first time doing sunless. Definitely recommend.
The switch from Golden Tans to Sun Tan City has been "meh" for me. Yes, they have great upgrade specials (half off on weekends!) and they seemed more polished and streamlined. However, in the switch I am now just a "fast" member and now have to pay for an upgrade to a bed that used to be included in my package. So instead of having 3 different beds included in my package, I only have 2. That really sucks. The prices of products and upgrades also seem to have sky rocketed. I also hate that every single time I go in there, they try to sell me a $60+ bottle of lotion... When I'm holding a bottle and 2 packets. I'm a lotion junkie so I have quite a stock at home but it never fails that whatever I have in my hand, they bash it and recommend something else. I get that they need to sell products but when I have plenty in my hands, don't product push :/ In addition, it seems like while they might be knowledgeable it just comes off as a little snotty. I've been tanning at this location since some of these girls were in kindergarten and I know the beds and my body, yet they always talk to me like I've never tanned in my life. Overall, I think the switch was a downgrade and I really do miss my Golden Tan :(
