Vivid Salon in Verona, WI

I haven't had a hair cut in over 3 years. Why? Procrastination, fear, lack of confidence of stylists dealing with my curls, etc. I've had 3 years of heat damage & split ends wrapped up in a frizzy mess. A co-worker recommended her as we both have curls. I have some where in between 3B/3C (if you go by the number system). I've never known how to take care of my hair. When I messaged Melissa from her website to schedule an appointment. She recommended I try to Brazilian Blow out treatment to help manage my frizz. She was very knowledgeable, gentle and personable. The best part of my experience is that she listened to exactly what I wanted and made it happen when making my hair healthy again. I was super nervous that all of my hair was going to be chopped off because I assumed the damage was THAT bad, but she maintained a great length while cutting all the split ends/damaged areas. I will be back much sooner than 3 years to see Melissa again

As a guy with wavy, coarse hair that may or may not be starting to recede, just "getting a buzz cut" doesn't really do the trick anymore. Thankfully, Melissa knows how to cut men's hair, and she does a knockout job. Melissa is really great at getting to know exactly what it is that you're looking for, both before and during the haircut. She'll ask questions to confirm what it is that you want before doing anything, which is nice. She also washes your hair and has you style it the same way you normally would before going back in and adding finishing touches that cater to you. I've been to other salons that cost more, but I feel like those places charge you for the experience. Here, you get a truly personal, polished haircut on top of a great experience (beverages, warm scented towel over your face during the wash, etc.) I refuse to go anywhere else.

FINALLY!!! Melissa is THE ONE who knows how to cut naturally curly hair! She has long, gorgeous naturally curly hair, so understands our pain and horror stories. I found Melissa by asking my curly-haired bank teller--who always looks great--for the name of her stylist. She too loves Melissa. I've been to Vivid a few times now, so know that you can depend on Melissa to: -Cut it right the first time, so no going back for fixes. -Take the time to blow out and cut your hair dry, if that's right for your curl type (mine is 3A-ish). -Consistently give you a great cut that looks fab curly or straight. -Cut it right for your face type. -Know the possibilities for your curl type. -Never try to upsell you; just builds trust one great cut after the other. The salon is easy to get to from the Madison, WI, area. It takes me just 18 minutes from downtown. Considering that I never have to go back for her to fix my cuts, it takes much less time than going to salons that are just 5-10 minutes away. Vivid is a new independent salon. At the time that I'm writing this review they may just have a Facebook page, but not an active website. Tho the salon is new, Melissa is an experienced stylist, so no worries there. I've already tried several of the other stylists who you'll find on this and other websites. Melissa is the only one who really, truly knows what she's doing with curly hair. You will not be disappointed!!!
